Yeah that's probably my point too. It just seems cheap to induct fighters like Benn, Eubank and Hamed into the same club that Leonard, Hearns and Hagler are in.

    Thats a fair enough assesment.
Its like Mayweather at the moment the guy is a ****ing amazing technical fighter. And the way the guy slips punches is unreal.
But people just dont love him.
    Pac gets insane love.
And rightly so. but is he technicaly better than mayweather. Hell no.

Keeping Hamed and Eubank out of the argument and just focusing on Benn I think that argument against Benn being in the HOF is soft and misrepresents what the HOF seeks to acknowledge.

if the hall of fame had the standards of the basketball or baseball hall of fames....benn does not deserve to get in, his resume is solid but nothing fancy, especiallly on the world scene....

but boxing hall of fame standards, yes he does get in, but barely....and i'm a benn fan...

    Well, I don't know.

I've heard calls from the US guys that Gatti should get in. If Gatti gets in, then Benn is a walk up start.

I'm not sure enough of the criteria for HOF entry.

Can anyone tell me what the point of a Hall of Fame is? Sounds like a loads of bollocks. The two most popular sports in the world, football and cricket, do not feel the need to have Hall of Fames

Of course Benn should get in.

He was in 2 of the best ever fights in the UK, v Watson and Eubank 1. Despite losing both by stoppage, he did much more internationally. He also improved from defeat. He won both his titles away from home - WBO middle and WBC super middle. He beat world class names DeWitt and Barkley in exciting contests. He made 8 WBC title defences, including a draw vs Eubank in a fight that had a massive live gate + huge international TV audience. Benn deserved the win; the fight showed how far Benn had come on. The win over McClellan is one of the most astonishing fights ever, and the greatest ever fight at 168-pounds. Benn got up to beat a sensational puncher in a fight in a costly fight: mcclellan disabled, benn pretty much shot.

Benn won top fights at world level and was in remarkable fights. Benn had a far more eventful reign than future Hall of Famer Calzaghe. He might not have been as good a boxer, but he got by with power and an ability to rally back from being stunned. Benn showed this quality early in his career: a sensational come from behind KO of Anthony Logan for the Commonwealth title. And he showed it at world class, too.

benn beat more international names than eubank and many feel benn won the rematch v eubank. benn and eubank needed each other - great rivals, clash of styles, personalities - in fights that got massive publicity.

how can the win over mcclellan not stand out? when jones was fighting eric lucas and bryant brannon in bouts no one card about?

toney took about 9 or 10 rds to beat barkley - benn did him in a round. RJJ was an untouchable boxer but took few risks happy for his guaranteed $5mil from HBO to fight anyone.
