I think he makes the upper tier of durable men. I just don’t know if I can grant anyone the number one spot as it’s almost impossible to tell. But yeah, Oliver McCall had a world class chin
I have posted repeatedly & at length about this. The likely answer is yes, McCall has the GOAT chin. 1) Even getting floored briefly counts against a chin, although balance & whether hurt must be considered. 2) While there is the law of diminishing returns, bigger bodies (natural more than over built muscle) tend to absorb more punishment. Thus it is implausible that anything but possibly a rehydrated CW might be a realistic candidate for GOAT chin. Assuming re-hydrating does not take a toll... 3) McCall while sometimes passive absorbed mucho punishment in a loooong (especially in time, fighting forever) career. Including 300 + rounds with Tyson. Never being even floored including in sparring is a This content is protected achievement. 4) Marion Wilson was more of a spoiler than McCall. Edit: meaning that like say Ernie Terrell or John Ruiz (when not bulldozed by Tua), it limited how much punishment he took. Who sometimes could be "The Atomic Bull". 5) Others had superb chins, but none took more modern HW/SHW punishment & never even went down.
McCall had great chin granite. incredible. but did fight with all time great punchers? Lennox Lewis is one. Bruno was fair strong hard puncher & after this fighters like Seldon or Ferguson & Butler. (he never face even old Foreman, Briggs, Bowe, Morrison, Tua, Ruddock, Wlad, all active of the same era )
list create top 10 or 15 hard power puncher of 1985 to 2005:and see who McCall even did fight. maybe I misunderstood but I remember not so many with top KO power puncher reputation fight McCall in real fight
for example Weaver Ruddock Bonecrusher Morrison Cooper Foreman Bowe Briggs Tyson Tua Ibeabuchi Sanders WladKlitschko Brewster etc. how many did McCall match with same reputation type as puncher KO power? over this same era. Lewis Bruno Seldon ? 5-6-1 Butler ? DeVaryl Williamson? I cannot see McCall record of test the chin in ring fight so much. not seeing taking on most ferocious punchers in real fight year after the year. but persons here said he takes the best punchers of his whole generation. no I am not so sure of it. think he missed fights with most big punchers of his time era.
I sympathize, but I have to give that to Ali. Both Foreman and Shavers landed flush more than once and he stayed up.
In normal people, whatever the connection is between chin and brain blanking, Oliver McCall's is either missing or severed. If I had to pick one guy to name as the best chin ever, I would have to go with Oliver McCall. There just didn't seem to be any way to dent it. I'm not even sure if a baseball bat would accomplish anything on Oliver's whiskers.
He already got knocked out by fantasy fight Foreman, whose stamina should never be questioned, and therefore should be considered to have a worse chin than Greg Perslta.
