Does Pac get the credit he deserves for fighting odlh?

100% credit for fighting a weight drained Oscar De La Hoya who should not have taken any fight below 154.

 

I remember playing Fight Night Round 3 I'd always have life and death battles using DLH vs Pac against friends and my bros. I would always get pissed off because I thought it was unrealistic and Pac would be smashed in a few rounds against a top welter. That puts into perspective for me what Pac has really achieved now that everyone sees him as unbeatable at welter. Crazy how a fight with Margarito is now frowned upon as an easy option.

Anyway, I thought Oscar was going to seriously hurt Pac and was shocked at how easy Pac beat him up. He does not get the credit he deserves, everyone writing it off as if it wasn't special what he did. Even read on here someone say he cherry picked DLH lol.

Oscar was not his best that night, but how do we really know he was entirely shot given Pac's subsequent demolition of Hatton and his beatdown of Cotto? Those wins proved Pac was an extraordinary fighter. He probably would have beaten any version of DLH, given how Oscar struggled with an old Whitaker's speed and movement in his prime.

It was a phenomenal performance by Pac against DLH and it was the fight which i will always see as the one which solidified him as that once in a lifetime type of fighter I was lucky enough to see in my generation.

 

Not the same...Mayweather was a Welterweight before "retirement", and was still Welterweight when he came back. De la Hoya hadn't been at 147lbs for a good 6-7 years? He grew out of 147lbs, and the weigh-in photos show that.

 

Its not one that many people mention since the wins over Hatton and Cotto but he got plenty of credit for it at the time.Oscar was well past his best and drained by the weight so I dont think its the best win Manny has had,it was more of a money fight.

 

Mayweather v Marquez...the catchweight was 144lbs, but Mayweather came in at 146lbs...the same weight he fought Mosley.

Oscar v Forbes...Oscar weighed 150lbs, this is still light middleweight. Oscar weighed 145lbs v Pacquiao. Five pounds is a big amount of weight to lose, especially when you havn't been at 147lbs in years...never mind 145lbs.

Oscar was clearly shot/weight drained...Pacquiao took the risk in moving up. But I think Roach knew Oscar couldn't make the weight comfortably otherwise he would not have put Pacquiao in there. Pacquiao moved up two weight classes, and Oscar moved down a weight class...both equally risky. And Pacquiao came out on top.

4 pounds. Before fighting Pacquiao, Oscar fought Forbes in a catchweight in which was suppost to be at 150 pounds but Oscar fail to make weight in which Oscar weigh 151 pounds. Even though Oscar easily beat Forbes, Oscar got a bust up face by a feather fisted fighter. <<<<That tells me right there that moving down to 147 pounds will kill Oscar's body.

 

isn't that what made him the crossover star that he is? he gets more credit for that than any other fight according to reg. sport fans. i still think his greatest victory is EM II.

Look up any old threads. Hatton, Oscar, Cotto, Clottey were all picked to murder Pac by many. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I thought all four would beat the **** outta him too. Guilty as charged.
