Even though his pad work has probably slowed down, Roach wears that body pad which allows Pac to throw extra punches and combos when he feels the need.

He held the pads for Tyson and Toney don't see why Pac is an issue.

While everyone agrees that you are one of the best boxing trainer’s of the world, your achievements become even more stunning considering your fight with Parkinson disease. How do you keep up such great work with your fighters while suffering from such a bad illness?

The thing is I take my medication; I won’t let it get into my way. Yesterday, I did 50 rounds of mitts in a row with 14 of my fighters and twelve rounds with Pacquiao. I can do this all day long, I’m happy here. I won’t let Parkinson take any of that away and I refuse to even acknowledge it. I’m fine. - Roach

Easily. Furthermore, I feel that Roach created Pacquiao. And however much credit Roach receives for it from here on out, it won't be enough.

I believe Buboy holds the pad sometimes, but Roach had to hold them when the routine is relatively new. Also when the camera is on. I think his parkinson's can hold 'til Pac retires (2 to 3 fights more), but agree that he needs someone else after a year or two from now.

I think that Roach quote says it all. Absolutely he can keep up with the intensity. Have you watched him? He does a fine job.

Yeah, no ****. He's not that old. Do you all realize that Freddie Roach was a vicious professional fighter just twenty years ago?

freddie isn't as weak as you think, according to john garfield of esb (he is a regular at the wild card) he has seen freddy kicking ass when he needs to.

I think all fighters would benefit from younger, athletic, stronger guys with great experience holding the pads but as none of those exist. The older guy tends to know what he's doing.

Look at Mayweather Snr too with all that coughing up of a lung he does sometimes. Those older guys have been there and done it, the gym and workouts are like second nature to them.

I compare it to when you have a cold but you play a competitive sport and you don't feel it until the adrenaline is gone.

For the present, Roach can keep up w/ the intensity but down the road, sad to say, he won't be able to. He's training so many fighters right now. Sooner or later, the mind will still say yes but the body won't. Roach was and is a warrior. He'll never give up, that's for sure.
