Really have a great chance of bringing the sport back to its glory days? Don't get me wrong, this is the ONLY fight i wanna see anymore, but thats just it... after this fight, and these two are gone, whats next? Berto? Froch? Haye? i mean really? I think hype will build up, and than after this fight, there's not a whole lot left in boxing... What's everyone's take on it?

No one fight can do it. If anything its more like the climax, after this fight no other fight compares in terms of hype, no really other superstars. It took a decade to build Pac & PBF to be the draw that they are, not sure who's gonna follow if both guys retired today.

If someone gets knocked out, then yes.

If it's a borefest like De La Hoya vs. Mayweather, no.

Agree. A single fight alone (even as big as Mayweather vs Pacquiao) will not be enough to make it the premier sport again. Ideally, you would need a **** hot division, with 4 or so incredible fighters lighting it on fire by giving the public the fights they want to see (Eg Hagler, Hearns, Duran and Leonard). It needs to capture the hearts of the wider audience, and unfortunately Mayweather vs Pacquiao won't do that.

No its not that great of a fight when you really think about. Sure people want to see but these 2 fighters are on diffrent levels by far!

Like that Luther Vandross song goes, "Only for one niiiiiiiiiiiiight". The day after the PPV, back to business as usual.

When a great fighter lost in 70's, 80's, 90's they went on and fought other good or great fighters. IF pac lost and shane gets another quality win thats a match up. If Floyd Lost he could go up to 154 lots of great match ups there including a Cotto fight. Either man could fight at 140 and there would be very exciting fights there too. Lets say pac won and decided to push his body to the limit and go after angulo or Kirkland when he gets out soon, could you imagine the wars with Pac at 154. I see countless numbers of great fights in the future

Not unless theres a trilogy in the making, that and/or one fighter who won loses their next fight, and the other fighter beats that fighter, demanding a rematch, or if another person rises up and gets people curious with "what if" matchups... etc..

Being a boxing nut, I enjoy watching a technically and defensively sound fighter like Mayweather, and watching a offensive-minded, high output fighter like Manny.

The problem is, most people are casual fans of boxing and would rather see a volatile, action-packed slugfest than a technical, strategic boxing match.

I think that Manny's style is more likely to deliver that style, and would attract more casual boxing fans (not trying to get into the "Manny is better than May, May is better than Manny" argument).

For Boxing to get back to the "Glory Days", we will need as many casual fans as possible. There are alot of other fighters that are fan-friendly and create alot of action in the ring (guys like Pacquiao, Katsidis, Maidana, Froch, etc.).

Those are the kind of guys that can introduce someone to boxing, and some of those fans will become boxing nuts and grow to respect and love the sport for all it's aspects.

Mayweather vs Pacquiao has a great chance of introducing the general public to a genuine superfight. Hopefully (if it happens) it will deliver the action to match the hype.
