A scrawny malnurished teenager who became a man, grew in to a short but blazing offensive 8 weight champion. Fought the best of the best in 5/6 divisions. Top 10 for me. 7/8 ATM. But #3 before the ROIDQUEZ debacle
Absolutely. It's a shame though that he still continues, he is an old man and not everyone ages like Mayweather. He is clearly not what he used to be but hey, as long as he wont take brutal damage, who are we to tell him to retire Anyways, in his prime he was a devastating offensive powerhouse, there wasnt fighters like him in that weight class. Exciting, powerful with crazy combos and speed. He finished fighters like no other did, who else knocked out Ricky Hatton out cold in just two rounds? One of his fights against Marquez he knocked him down 3 times in the very first round. First and only man to finish Barrera. First man to finish Morales and he did it twice, once in just 3 rounds. In his prime, his offensive attacks were amazing and he was very fun to watch It's a different story nowadays but so it is for many that continue for too long
He deserves to go down as an all time great for his work at the lower weights. Above 130, he has some good wins, but there is also alot of smoke and mirrors, selective match making, guys carrying the fight, fighting guys past their primes, fighting guys who just got whooped by other fighters etc.
he still beat the dog chit out of them and that counts for a lot. the man came up to be tested, and some teachers didnt want that work.
Is water wet? Is the sky blue? Seriously though, is this even a question? Top 50 ATG, top 5 ATG southpaw, 8 weight division champ, greatest Asian fighter, wins over other ATG and HoF fighters, involved in some of the most exciting fights and rivalries, and up there with Tyson and Ali as most well known and popular boxers amongst casual viewers. ATG and a true legend. That is undeniable.
