Pavlik should do this fight for free, from his perspective. He's guaranteed an easy win and a small increase in reputation and interest.

Pavlik asked for an extension because a few weeks into camp he could not make a fist. Technically, PW pulled out. No one blames him for not waiting, but let's get the facts straight. Kelly ALWAYS wanted the fight and it would not have gotten this far if he didn't.

They called Pdub out after because of the way that low life Peterson ran his mouth. This is the first time I remember ever hearing Kelly call some one out. Usually it is "who ever they put in front of me". Arum simply told them to put up or shut up.

lets forget about the outcome for a second....

from a actual negotiating stand point.... arum threw away any leverage he had when he let pavlik step away from the original planned fight date... so now they are going to have to bend over a little bit and take it up the ass from goosen whether they like it or not...

It is a strange reality you live in. :yep Pavlik is still linear champ with 3 belts and Pdub's stock at MW actually went down after his last fight. The contract is still Pdub's biggest pay day, bar none. I think Arum put it nicely. Put up or shut up. He needs to do no more. He can go on to other things now.

Youre missing an option so I couldnt vote, PWill is NOT ducking Pavlik. It's just in negotiations. I think 50-50 is askin too much but I understand after getting screwed on postponements in 2009 there should be a compromise.

I don't see why it's unfair just to have an option of $500,000 which Team PW can claim if KP pulls out again, and to leave the other terms as they were.

listen im not negotiating... if i was i would ask for 45-55 instead of the original 40-60.... my whole thing is i dont think goosen asking for 50-50 is unrealistic.... although i dont think the fight will ever happen on those terms... i understand why he would make such a demand.....

i think a lot of people are pretending like the demand is that rediculous just cause they hate williams / love pavlik when some of yall understand exactly why goosen is doing that

Seems to me Taylor was ranked above "good"....and got his ass kicked. Hopkins was a bad fight for Pavlik. Hopkins makes everybody look bad, because he doesn't fight...........Now that KP is getting back on track he will be alright. Sure he ain't the best MW who ever lived....but he can bang, and he comes to fight.......he willl be around for little while yet at least.:good Paul Williams sure ain't no threat to his MW crown.

Technically it is not possible for a welterweight who is probably the 5th or 6th best fighter in his own division to "duck" the middleweight champ. The use of the word "ducking" in this context is not appropriate.

Nor was it appropriate for Williams and Peterson to accuse Pavlik of faking a life threatening reaction to antibiotics, two hand surguries, and a nasty case of MSRA. PW said Pavlik's only real problem was "separation anxiety, because he's afraid to be separated from his titles." Peterson claimed Pavlik had a "heart problem, not a hand problem." For Williams to change his mind after getting battered by Martinez would be fine if they had not engaged in all the smack talk.

Goosen spoke to both Williams and Peterson BEFORE he announced the decision to take PW back to 147. In other words, he made the decision to go back to welterweight with the full approval of Paul Williams and George Peterson. The two guys who both claimed Pavlik would be an easy victory agreed to avoid him all together.

It is extremely naive to think that the Williams/Martinez and Pavlik/Espino fights had nothing to do with Paul's new career direction. PW got battered by a natural JMW who has a 50% KO ratio against mostly sub par opposition. Pavlik added fighter #7 to a growing list of guys who had never been stopped before. Do the math!

Goosen's talk about a 50/50 co-promotion is just a smoke screen designed to protect PW's "most feared fighter" moniker. He knows damn good and well that Arum will never make that deal. Goosen already tried that last summer, and Arum told him to take a hike.

Williams is not "ducking" Pavlik. He is simply listening to his handlers, and doing the right thing for the longevity of his career. PW ought to be glad that his fans do not control his career. If they did, he would get mangled.

Like I said. Arum just asked them to put up or shut up. I doubt they do either, but we will see.

Here's a thought for you: HBO was hot on the Pavlik/Williams fight. Since the Martinez fight, if they still want to push PW, I doubt if they will like the idea as much as they used to.

Yeah. Arum may have put himself out on the limb offering the same deal if HBO doesn't want it anymore. HBO was the money behind the fight.
