"Kelly had a contract signed by Kelly and Paul Williams to fight on Dec. 5. Kelly's hand [injury and infection] didn't allow that fight to happen. But the contracts were signed," said Arum, referring to a bout that was to take place in Atlantic City.

"And I say this to those loudmouth guys with Williams: Just sign the initial contract, and we'll do it first thing next year," said Arum. "That's all that they have to do. The terms are set up. And if they don't do it, let them shut their damn mouths." (Bob Arum)
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Frankly, things have changed. We'd be willing to get together in a fight with Williams, but only if Kelly takes a 50-50 split," said Goossen, declining to clarify the conditions of the original Pavlik-Williams contract. "They want the fight, it's 50-50. If you want the fight, then there it is." (Dan Goosen)

Pavlik fans are becoming more and more pathetic! At one point boxing fans used to debate on skill and accompishments not behind the scenes and back door business!!

Back door business is all we have, since your boy ran out the back door, of course we are looking that direction.

I know you can have some rational thinking when you want to Boo, but you guys are acting a fool today with this PW "ducking" KP business!!

Overall PW is a better boxer and better for boxing fans than KP!!!

PW has matched up against better competition in his career than KP!!!

first point: i won't touch the first point b/c i don't get into who ducks who.

second point: both parts are debatable. paul is what...6'2"?? he doesnt fight tall, doesnt use his height at all, does not control distance for ****, doesnt stay out of range of much smaller fighters, doesnt have much on his jab at all and has leaky defense. w/ that height and that wingspan he should be laying people out cold and guys like margarito shouldnt be able to lay a glove on him. kelly has his shortcomings as well which are plain to see. its both men's shortcomings that make them so fun to watch. both go to war, throw punches and take punches. both have good chins and good stamina. and for that reason both are good for boxing. neither man is a boxing master or defensive wizard.

third point: this too is debatable. both taylor and hopkins were pretty high on the p4p list when kelly fought them. i think zertuche, zuniga, mckart, miranda, taylor x 2 and hopkins matches up pretty well w/ paul's resume.

Zertuche and Zuniga are both legitimate middleweights who can crack. The vast majority of their wins came by KO. If either cracked Paul on the chin, he would not get back up. Both hit WAY HARDER than Martinez.

Miranda at 160 would break Williams in half. Considering the problems Williams has with speed and power, Jermain Taylor would score a late TKO.

Hopkins/Williams? That's an assassination, not a fight. Hopkins by KO with the first flush right hand.

like YOU could be objective on this matter ...

I am a fan of both fighters.. but if you look at the facts , it is clear Williams doesn't want to fight Pavlik ...

Zertuche Zuniga and Mckart were C level fighters and Miranda is a B Level Brawler!!

Zuninga and Zertuche barely had 20 fights when Pavlik faced them and Mckart was already worn out by Wright and Phillips!!

The Taylor win I give KP respect for although if Taylor hadn't become erratic in the second round there would be no talk of KP today!!

Actually PW has the better chin cause KP has been stunned, hurt, dazed and Knock down in numerous fights!

ok, you said pw has been matched up w/ better comp in his career...so a b-level brawler, two top 5 p4p fighters (at that time) and a handful of c level fighters...none of whom had ever been stopped. what is it about the level of williams comp that makes you say that.

THAT IS NOT A KNOCK ON PAUL!!!! all i'm doing is trying to understand where you are coming from. its not all paul's fault b/c no one at ww wants anything to do w/ him and martinez is really all there is at 154. this in no way makes paul any more or less of a boxer so don't go off on a tangent the point i'm making is specific to your assertion and has NOTHING TO DO WITH WILLIAMS THE FIGHTER :D

and as to your last point...hey man that's boxing. what would we be saying about bute if andrade could follow the rules and get his ass to the neutral corner?? what would we be saying about abraham if miranda didnt get any deductions?? kelly took the best the reigning undefeated mw champ had to offer and then iced him.

You've gone completely off your rocker. Please make me a list of all the fighters who "hurt" Pavlik. And don't post a bunch of bull**** because I've seen every one of KP's fights.

Several of the guys who could not buy a blink from KP would decapitate Williams. He has no chin above 147, and Martinez proved that.

It's pretty clear that Williams is not ducking Pavlik unless you are a compeltely myopic Pavlik fan or a racist like Farmboxer.

If he want's to move back down to 147 and fight guys there, that's not ducking, he tried to fight Pavlik, and Pavlik had to keep postponing. (Notice how I am not saying Pavlik is ducking anyone either).

Pavlik has a great chance to fight Williams under his terms and unfortunately for him, he couldn't be ready in time.

Pavlik lost of his neogtiaiting leverage when he ended up fight Espino. Remeber Pavlike hasn't beaten a top notch fighter in around 2 years, while Williams has.

I still hope they pull the fight off,

    Keith
