Does Porter have a jab??? Plus, knowing how to cut the ring off? His dad in some to pre-fight tapes..didn't seem to know how to teach Porter to cut the ring off and not follow Thurman around. Porter looks like he could still learn a lot of basic boxing techniques.
I agree with you. Porter's amateur record was 27614 yet - no double jab, an inconsistent jab, leading with the face and stutter steps without punching. I'm surprised there is not more finesse in his style gioven his amateur experience. At the top levels these small weaknesses can be exploited and we saw that vs Thurman. His Dad needs to watch more Dwight Qawi tapes.
This. He would walk into a lot less shots with a jab. I think not having a jab gave Brook an easy victory, since Brook was just racking up the points while Porter was wasting energy. Porter will keep losing if he doesn't fix this.
