Unless Povetkin ages overnight he should definitely be able to at least go the distance. Povetkin has a good chin and also know how to effectively roll punches. This is why Takam was taking a lot more abuse in their exchanges while Povetkin barely took any abuse. Several years ago Sanchez and GGG were trying to improve Barrera's efficiency on the inside for his Ward fight, but as the saying goes you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

For Joshua's sake hopefully he's worked on cleaning up up his punches and not leaving his body wide open, since Povetkin will be looking for any kind of weakness to exploit and unlike Takam and Parker he has both the skill and power to capitalize when Joshua makes mistakes.

Yes I would strongly expect this to go the full 12.

Povetkin is a better all rounder than Parker and he went 12. Povetkin knocked Takam out clean, and Takam was comfortable surviving the full 12 against AJ until that British stoppage.

We have enough points of comparison here to predict Povetkin sees the end of the 12 and it goes to he cards.

Povetkin doesn’t have that little bit extra he had 4-5 years ago for us to be able to predict that he knocks AJ out.

I don't see why not. Povetkin is able to slip well and he's got a great chin. Only guy to legit hurt him was Wlad.

I think AJ will try to keep him on the end of his jab while Povetkin will be looking to land that booming overhand right over the top and to get in close to do what he does best. Joshua will try clip him with the uppercut as he closes in. It's going to be a really good fight imho.

Does he bollocks. He's off the gear and he's 40 years old. Plus Price nearly had him over and he looked crap against Hammer.

    Joshua within 5

No. I think Joshua will stop him. I think he will continue with his less risky aproach but unlike Parker Povetkin will still try to push in to range and will be clipped by AJ and Joshua will look to apply the pressure when he sees any sign of struggle or hurt in the Russian he will look to finish the job. The ref may jump in a little early for one of those British stoppages so some people on here can get all rabid over it but the swing will definatly be with Joshua anyway when it happens.

So by the Takam comparison does Chisora last the distance v AJ being that he knocked Takam out clean ?

It's not inconceivable that Povetkin lasts that long or even goes the distance, he's durable and if he can make Joshua hesitant to just walk him down then we could see Joshua settle for another points decision if winning the fight.

But I suspect it won't last that long. Only reason Wlad couldn't finish him was because he smothered his work and with the lack of an inside game he couldn't hurt Povetkin in close. If the same thing happens and Joshua hurts Povetkin and he finds himself in close with a hurt Povetkin you know he'll unleash the uppercut and then it's lights out for Povetkin, even his chin can take only so many hard shots before it crumbles.

    No.

He'll be back in the dressing room with the belts long before then.

No, Povetkin is a small little ancient 40 year old shot fighter. It'd speak volume on just how insanely and other worldly type of a great Povetkin is, if he can even be competitive in this match up, never mind win.

Povetkin will go down as the top 3 greatest heavyweight in history if he pulls of this greatest single win in the heavyweight division's history.

    Nope.
The difference in reflexes will show in the first round. And Alex's legs sure are not too good these days. I don't think he's capable of sustaining punishment round after round anymore & will last for awhile. It's all that's left in the tank. I also think he very well might get busted up for the tko stoppage.

I'd say so. Povetkin doesn't have any durability issues and Joshua doesn't seem to be as explosive as he used to be.

I forsee him playing it safe again for a decision.

On a side note Joshua isn't in a good position in this fight because he needs a statement KO as his stock is slipping, but Povetkin isn't the guy to try get it against.
