Spinks never proved he could take power shots from a strong heavyweight like AJ.

But he was past his peak and didn`t land flush on Spinks the way AJ did on Usyk.

    Usyk >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Holyfield >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Douglas.

You can argue Tyson was not at his best in those losses. But was he not at his best against Tillis and Green? One sided fights, but against much out-matched opponents. Fighters cannot win every fight by 1st RD KO, but Tyson is often made into an indomitable beast that he clearly wasn't, and too many excuses are made for his losses.

Also, if you send Usyk back in time to the pre-VADA era, then he also gets to enjoy the pre-VADA era.

Tyson was improving with every title fight, probably the most skilled heavyweight of all-time, Mike>>>>>>>>Tucker>>>>>>>>>Douglas.

ok, I would not go THAT far. He was very skilled, and definitely doing something we hadn't seen since Patterson - while weighing 40 pounds heavier.
The problem is, Mike's skill was linked to his stamina (and his opponents willingness to stay upright). As the fight progressed, Mike's muscles failed him, so to speak. He got tired, became stationary and predictable.

I can believe that if Cus had lived and King never got involved, Mike would have become a much better fighter on the inside. He would have become more adept with the jab. Patterson made adjustments after leaving D'Amato that I am sure Rooney would have recognized as advantageous to Mike's repertoire.

I believe all that, and it's likely. Still, it's conjecture. What we do know is that Mike went off the rails pretty easily. And the excuses for the loss to Douglas are probably well-founded, but they are probably exaggerated, too. Douglas found an angle to exploit and he stuck it out. He took Mike into deep waters and refused to give up. The result was devastating for Mike's career.

of course hes a natural light heavy, just like usyk is a natural cruiser. but the fights we are referring to are both their respective fights at heavyweight so we have to make our judgements on that. Spinks size and weight , to the best of my recollection, were never considered as going against him v tyson. He;d beaten bigger and heavier opponents in his title fights before and although mike was a big favourite to win (and rightly so) it was because of his talents as opposed to what Spinks didnt have going for him. I also said its not out of the realms of possibilty, i didnt say he would or wouldnt
