I scored their actual encounter 8-4 in Mayweather’s favor but the bout was competitive throughout. However 2007 Oscar lost 4 of his last 7 fights and was nowhere near the best version of himself. So does say 1999 version at 147 have enough to add those few late rounds and beat Mayweather at 147.

Mayweather struggled more than I thought he would. However 147 was, IMO, not De La Hoya’s best weight - 140 was. There, I wouldn’t give Mayweather much better than 50-50 odds. I’d slightly favour him at 147. I know they were quite different stylistically, but the level of trouble an over-the-hill defensive wizard like Whitaker was able to give De La Hoya bothers me a lot for this fight.
