Im 50-50 on this. Tito in his prime had explosive takedowns and has alot of strength plus he would have size on his side he cuts about 20 pounds to make 205. No doubt he can get Anderson Silva down takedown defense is his strength Tito could use his strength and bully him pin his head agianst the cage and pound away or just pull of what he did agianst Wanderlei and thats get that 1 takedown a round and lay there basically. Now if he stands for a long period he has no chance and alot of that has to do with Titos confidence in his striking or lack there of and hes very leary of being hit Anderson would KO him with a vicious assault at some point.
Im kind of wary of Silvas td defense. Dunno if can stop Tito from taking him down and just grinding out for 3-5 rounds. I don't think Silva can submit Tito. If Tito not able to take him down fast enough Silva will pick him apart.
good answer, but I'll favour Tito in a decision. Anderson Silva dont have the tool to stop Tito's takedown. I would like to see how Tito deal with Anderson's guard. We all know his guard is ****in good, but Tito, on top, full guard or not, is ****in brutal.
I'd say Silva. It stays on the feet then Tito gets knocked out. If it goes to the ground I think Anderson is more than capable of submitting him. People underrate Silva's ground game hugely. He is a black belt under the Nogueira brothers. Submitted Hendo who had only ever been submitted by the Nogueira brothers. Tito is just too one dimensional for someone who is arguably the no 1 p4p in the world.
Titos Ground Game is whats underatted. He did very very well in the 2001 ADCC tournaments. Then watch him in MMA noboddy really ever comes close to submitting him and whenever he attempts a submission its close to being finished just there thnigs like the bell sounding agianst Rashad or Machida having sweat on his size last year. Tito has been in alot of dangerous guards and never submitted.
That and he submitted Lutter with the Elbows not the Triangle. Lutter was not close to be choked out he had a good defense for it but he was to weak to escape so he ate some elbows and he made a wise choice to tap.
:good But damn that Lutter was in a BAD spot, this mother****er had a shot to close it in the first round with his sloppy arm bar attemp. He was in no shape, disgusting. Annyway, every fighter would have tapped from that spot of Lutter. Maybe not Royce Gracie or Penn, but they would have been knocked the **** out
I'll admit i haven't seen most of Tito's fights accept the most recent few, but looking at his record on sherdog, he hasn't been in with many of what I would class as dangerous submission fighters, of course with the exception of Frank and Ken Shamrock. He lost to Frank and beat an old Ken three times. I'll take your word for it that Tito's ground game is underrated. But I'm going to stand with my original post and say Anderson has the tools to beat him wherever. And I still say people underrate Silva's ground game. As an example I'll use the Hendo fight which I rewatched last night on UFC Wired. Now I like Hendo, big fan, but after watching the fight again I think although Hendo won the first round he did **** all. Anderson Silva had a feeling out round, and Hendo took him down. Immediately Silva was had one of Hendos legs locked and kept Hendo in the half guard (I think). Hendo couldn't set up some decent ground n pound. And in the second round it wasn't that Hendo didn't stick to his game plan it was that he couldn't. A great example I think of Silva's ground game.
A submission's submission mate. Doesn't matter how you get it. Hendo's been in trouble before and survived.
Hendo rarely been hurt big time with black belt in BJJ like he was vs Anderson Silva. It's mainly because of Silva's striking that Anderson was able to sub him. Anderson Silva could sub Rickson Gracie too after a couple of big knee ated from Gracie.
