WBSS / Ali trophy tried to do this type of thing to varying degrees of success - most notably in my mind it got the best fighting the best and for that I loved it.

But of course WBSS only managed to get something sorted in non-marquee weight classes.

A WBSS @147, 160 or Heavyweight would be as closes as I can think of to a flagship event

The thing is with boxing is that most other sports players join some sort of league or tournament. But boxing is unique because boxers can choose who they do face and who they don’t face while other athletes don’t get that choice. (Which is one of the reason why we’re the only sport that has the the best don’t fight/play the best problem.) So a flag ship event wouldn’t really work cause it wouldn’t fit the sport.

Simply removing the alphabet titles and replacing them with a single world championship, along with regional championships, would go a long way.
There are many other ways to improve the sport, like a flagship event, but the above is the most dire need imo.

They didn't like Teddy exposing the corruption that's ripe in the sport that why he was given the boot. Say what you like about him. Yes he does get kinda eccentric. But I believe he truly loves the sport & he'd make a great International Commissioner. He'd haul in those judges who hand in ludicrous scorecards kick ,out the bad ones & make sure the others are competent. Today in my opinion the State Commission's are like the Mob & Mafia of the 50's ,only worse they don't have to try & hide the blatant corruption theres no one overseeing them,

We sort of have it on Cinco de mayo ( may 5th ) but that's mostly for Mexicans. We could use a weekend or two of big fights.

It would be amazing if they got the top 2 from each division to fight each other on the same night. Find out who is number 1 in each division. It will never happen though, the top 2 from each division hardly ever fight each other at all.
