He can't box like he does now with no head movement, he's eating punches on the way in. Also a very poor punch variety, and no jab.

i would have thought that Roach would get Prov to throw shots without setting his feet too much, because that's one of his biggest problems. he's looking to get as much power as possible in one shot. but with a moving target, that's going to be a big problem.

where is his right hand as well?? why hasn't that been developed?? it could be a great weapon for him if he used it, but it's all hooks.

Prov was looking to step in too close to the target, which was stupid considering the limited tools he's operating with. he should have given himself a bit of room and feinted to draw leads from too far out and counted. but no, just pig headed from start to finish. he should have used his jab at all times if he wanted to step all the way in while using head movement. he started well with that, but he just stopped doing it after a while and reverted to standing straight up with no head movement at all.

Roach has had him long enough to work on the basics that will give him what he needs for certain styles. but he just hasn't got the ability (Roach, that is) he works on aggression but not the technical side of things. so he's just been exposed as a hyped up one trick pony and a limited trainer once again.

i actually thought that Roach had been working on Prov not setting his feet too much from watching the Alvarado fight, because it looked much better than it was in the Bradley fight. there it looked awful when Bradley boxed.

this is as good as it gets for Provodnikov if he stays with Roach. movers will be a huge problem, it won't be worked on. so unless he picks out certain fighters to look good against, anyone with a bit of ring savvy can claim the win.

saying that though, the feeling i had last night, was that it was a close fight that could have gone either way. i don't score fights live so i can't give a winner until a score it properly.

some of the "boxing" that Algieri was doing wasn't even legit. he was just flicking his shots out and barely touching Prov. they were none scoring punches as far as i'm concerned. but he came off as looking in control so got the win.
we're now looking at another pointless, boring "fighter" who no one will watch, so this win does nothing for boxing.

He's not that good, that's the problem. One dimensional and takes too many shots. Both good boxers and monster hitters will beat him. I do think Bradley fought his fight and still did well enough with no power. If Bradley fights like he fought JMM he beats him easily in my opinion. By the way, I saw the fight up until around the 11th, I fell asleep. I don't think Algieri was winning though, Provo did much more damage.

i would have liked provo to work the body more, to slow algieri down, especially in the 1st half of the fight.

Its the job of the action fighter to trap the defensive fighter and make him fight. If Provo can't catch Algieri thats on him. Its been that way for a long time in boxing. Nothing really new.

Come man, you're being to hard on him.

He had no choice but to press the action against Algeri.

Don't get me wrong, he could have attempted to box a little from time to time, just to try and catch Algeri with a counter and give him a different look, but given his physical assets, he was best served trying to force the fight.

The problem is, he stopped moving his head, and he loses his composure far too quickly.

He could have kept rotating, swung like a pendulum, thrown the jab without popping his head up, and continued to attack the body.

Instead, he completely lost his mind and started brawling and taking shots.

Sugar Ray Robinson and every great fighter and trainer ever would tell you that you couldn't have written a more foolish post.

Reading this would make me cringe, if I didn't know that he was a worthless troll already.

    He doesn't necessarily need them.

He just needs to excel at what he's good at. That means, more head movement, not popping his head up when he throws the jab, switching to southpaw occasionally for moments when he wants to corner his opponent, putting more emphasis on the body attack, and stepping around to get better angles.

    OK, I'll take the bait.

Robinson never ran. Robinson was a classic boxer, puncher. He never fought like Algieri did, NEVER. And he did go toe to toe with LaMotta when he chose to, when he felt he had the upper hand.

You know how I know this? Because Sugar Ray Robinson was 85-0 in the amateurs, with 40 KO's coming in the first round. Does that sound like a runner? Not only that but when he turned pro he went 128-1-2 in his first 131 pro bouts with 84 KO's. Now let me ask you something. Knowing what we know about the history of the US, do you think a black man could have fought like Chris Algieri and gotten a decision in the 1940's and 50's in the US? First and foremost, Robinson was an entertainer, and he was impeccable at it.

Obviously, making a lot of posts doesn't make someone any more astute than someone else, as you have just proven.

Does Nonito Smoak have a low IQ? Yes, yes he does.

The guy is a *****. Its well known that those maggots dont know anything about the sport they just have an obsession with someone (Floyd) who happens to be a boxer, most of them started following him after his short stint in the WWE.
