He fought on his back foot at times. He moved around the ring plenty. He played matador to the bull at times. I've read interviews and quotes given by Sugar Ray Robinson. Based on them, he obviously would have liked and complimented Algieri's boxing display over Provodnikov. Just because the guy you rooted for and thought would win didn't doesn't mean you have to call into question the integrity of the sports' scoring criteria as a whole nor need to give your opinion of what other viewers should value as entertaining or worthwhile in such the bold way that you did.
Listen, you moron, more people on Press Row had Provodnikov winning this fight than Algieri. So don't say some stupid **** like I am calling into question the sports scoring criteria. And I'll give my opinion any ****ing time I want to. That is what this forum is for so STFU.
I just get done telling you how lousy the decision was, that Provo won the fight, gave you examples of SRR greatness in contrast to what Algieri did, and you somehow deduce that I am equating Sugar Ray Robinson's career to Algieri's? What's wrong with you? Did your mama drop you on your head one too many times growing up?
And Press Row had Provodnikov winning the fight. So did one of the judges decisively. Two hometown judges called it for Algieri, 114-112. I happen to agree with Press Row.
Habib basically admits to it but then tries to deny it in the same post. That guy doesn't know which way is up
I rarely agree with the "media" in any close fight for the simple fact that there is rarely a shared view. My view is we saw a style clash result in an exciting contest which hopefully we can see again. And if it does happen again Prov cannot use this macho crap as an excuse for his failure to address his limitations.
Well, in this case, there was a shared view, Provo won, and I would not call this an exciting contest. Provo did his utmost to make it exciting but Algieri, knowing that if he stopped running and fought, he would get KO'd, so, OK, good for Algieri for surviving.
I am not aware that every media pundit had it for Prov in fact it seems quite the opposite. Seems many consider the bout to be exciting as do I so cannot agree there.
