Of course. People forget that a "Hall of Fame" is exactly that - It's about "fame". That's why McGuigan is in and someone like Gatti will also, without a second thought, be inducted. It's why Stallone can be inducted, in fact. Anyone can bring fame and fortune to the sport deserves to be in the Hall of Fame and Hatton was a tremendously popular fighter.

Well when how the **** are Jess Willard and Ken Norton in there?

I say yes to Hatton. If Willard can make it, so can Hatton.

  4. Less deserving than even Barry McGuigan and a right fat **** to boot. His real legacy will be that he was a fat **** and serial ducker.

    :patsch

If he's a serial ducker then why the **** did he fight the P4P kings at the time?
And Duran's a fat **** to boot, so should he be shafted? What about Tyson?

Think about what you're saying instead of spouting off just plain rubbish.

  6. Only twice when his career was over and got utterly destroyed and embarrassed. USA, USA!

Willard is in on the back of being the true heavyweight champion, much like Baer and Braddock (remember he's in with the old timers). Norton isn't one I'd put in personally but he's a borderline one (like McGuigan). Hatton would have to be compared to his contemporaries (the Modern section), and in fact he doesn't even get close to the acheievement of Willard IMO (4 year reign as the heavyweight champion beats a 4 year reign as the Light Welterweight champion, IMO)

    Yes

One of the best 140 pounders of the modern era.

Only lost to the 2 greatest fighters of our generation

Took thousands of fans to weigh ins, the most popular fighter in Britain in the last 50 years

Tremendous body puncher, 2 weight world champion

    And like everyone says

If Bary McGuigan can get in, so can Hatton

    (Poor Barry)

Ricky Hatton was great at 140IB. But the time he faced Pacman, he was shot.

The fight against Mayweather took everything out of him......everything that was left after his alcohol and kebab binges.

Mayweather was class against hatton, but Mayweather was relieved to have knocked Hatton out when he did, because it was nothing but a relentless pursuit by Hatton.

Hatton was definetely not the best boxer Britain has produced. But so far he is the biggest because of his huge local fanbase. And that's because he was down-to-earth and had lot's of character. And his fights were good. Even the two he lost.

As a whole i think he will get in with his world wide fame and the excitement he brought to the game. i would have liked to have seen him accomplish a little more with his resume to get in with more room to spare.i think if he came back after the pac fight and beat a couple of the current world champs it would have been a little more impressive. but as it stands he is really a five time world champ in two divisions if you count that paulie malignaggi was really the ibf champ before being stripped for fighting hatton.he has victories over 8 former or current world champs.he only lost to two of the greatest of all time.he also defeated kostya tszyu, and to those who see tszyu as shot when they fought, your just revisionists because tszyu was coming off the total destruction sharmba mitchell and was ranked #3 pfp at the time.so with the bar set as low as it is he deserves to get in but just barely.he would just be one of the less accomplished entrants.i for one would love to see him make it.He was a special fighter and always went for the gusto.

Lost to Floyd above his best weight and Pac when past his best with personal problems with the blowing up between fights also taking it's toll

Have you seen Castillo-Corrales 1??? After that brutal beating they gave each other, they both were clearly not the same afterwards. Also, Castillo was above his prime weight by the time he fought Ricky, and he was clearly not the same fighter from before. As for Tszyu being p4p number 3, so was Shane Mosley when Floyd beat him, but it was clear as day that he wasnt the same fighter he was in his prime, the same goes for Kostya. The fact is that No, Ricky was NOT a great fighter, he was good and very popular but NOT great.
