is he just no good at teaching a good defence to a fighter

the reason i ask this is that his fighters seem to mark up and cut really easy

    look at pacquiao

this was after the clottey fight-yes a big puncher and much bigger fighter, but clottey hardly threw and still busted up pacman's face

and yes he was bruised up against cotto and margarito but they were real tough fights

    now take khan

we all saw how marked up he was after MALIGNAGGI

someone who has very light punches and didnt win a round but marked khan up

then we saw how maidana mashed up his nose and face but again, big puncher and fight was a war

    now linares

gets cut in sparring and nose split like a banana in the fight

makes me wonder if roach has these guys sparring too much and too heavy when they do

all of them seem to mark up real easy and could it be that their face takes alot of punches before the fight and makes their skin much less able to take punches without becoming damaged

and these are fighters on with great nutrition and training so they r in shape and healthy before these fights, yet all mark up real easy

I'd like to point out, that, only looking at the marking of a person's face as an indication of how much punishment they take, is pretty stupid.

Hatton had a massive mouse under his eye against Malignaggi, and this was Vitali after hsi fight with Johnson:

Is Vitali's face a true indication of how that fight went? Of course not. I don't know how it works, but sometimes bruises pop up even after taking the smallest amount of punishment. That's what happened to Pacquiao with Clottey, and Khan with Malignaggi.

But I do agree, though, that Roach's speciality isn't in his defence.

Tbf Vitali has proven paper skin so I'm not surprised.

But bruises just show something is landing, and Roach and his fighters and known for being offence first so they are likely to get tagged.

Pac really doesn't get busted up that easy...the Josh fight was a fight where Manny was pretty laid back after a while given how defensive Josh was to the point where Pac was actually "playing around".....no matter what, this is boxing and your opponent is always a threat...Josh would at times.....random times pop out of defense mode and catch a much smaller and quicker opponent who was too offensive minded.

Everytime Pacquiao is sparring,he is wearing a full face headgear, and bigger ounces winnig gloves...What else could he do?? Roach said that in his gym the sparring is no joke, and the only rules is to not finish a guy, when his hurt.Allmost every fighter who´s boxing a fight for all 12 rounds gets bruised a little bit. That´s what comes with the sport, where the attentions are to hit and not get hit.But this is worldclass fighters,so they will get hit sometimes.SO no i don´t think Roach letting his fighters get to much punishment when they spar.

Look at Margarito´s face after 12 rounds with Pacquiao...I havent seen any sparringpartners look like that after a training camp with Pac.
