Were they expecting these shenanigans he is pulling on them? Do they really believe they can turn a profit with a person that has no fan base?

We can get a feel for the situation and speculate based on current events. There is an interview with Ward from early this year and he said that Roc Nation didn't even want to give him 1 tune up let alone 2-3 of them. I think Roc Nation signed him without doing their homework properly. When Al Haymon shows no interest in a fighter that's a warning signal!!

NO. I chose no but only cuz there isnt a NOT YET option. They possess one of the P4Pers in Boxing and he is American. Another year or so of him wanting to fight below parr opposition, in Oakland and making Roc Nation pennies and it will start to dawn on them.

Roc Nation aren't ret@rded to overlook the fact that injuries do happen in the sport, and Andre Ward's history has always been there to explore.

    They overlooked Ward's emotional issues.

Yeah but they didn't explore it thoroughly. They ignored his travel phobia and his slick boxer style phobia. They probably went back and watched his Super Six stuff and made their decision based on that small body of work alone.

He was their buy-in to get some kind of foothold into the upper level of boxing. They probably weren't/aren't expecting some kind of super payoff from him, but to use him to make some kind of name for themselves to attract other fighters and build relationships with the HBOs of the world.

I didn't know they went to HBO for the Paul Smith fight and they didn't want to air it. I know HBO's boxing budget has been slashed so they don't have a lot one money to spread around.

If Cotto had not beat Martinez for the 160 belt and he had a big money fight with Cash Cow Canelo down the road Roc Nation would have showed no interest in Miguel Cotto.
