I thought he was winning the early part of his fight against Eagle Kyowa. He hurt the guy, knocked him down and had Kyowa in trouble. He just lost steam, wilted and lost.

The little guy has some power and good technique. His best punch is that "Oscar 45", a kind of hook-uppercut.

I like Mayol, actually. He needs to improve on conditioning, cardio and upper body strength.

I just looked at his boxing record online, he seems to be slipping in his last few fights.

 Oscar 45... Yup he sure does have that hook uppercut... If i remember correct, he rocked the **** out of Ulisis Solis with that punch.. Mannn i thought he was going to win that fight..

Ive always liked Mayol but something in his game is missing..

    Eagle fight was very impressive..

Im rooting for him bigtime and imagine if he wins.. The division would be shook up..

Him VS Giovanni Segura would be cracking too.

    Yeah.

I guess we're lucky in a way, because many fights at 105 to Pacman's weight class are regularly shown for free on local TV. So, the whole country will definitely see the Calderon fight.

But the welterweight to cruiserweight fights, though, is never shown here unless it's a super fight.

this guy never improves his stamina. he was on his way to a victory against kyowa and ran out of gas in round 6..

knocked solis down, did a great job in the round 7 slugfest with solis and just ran out of gas again in round 8

he didn't run out of gas against solis iirc. he got careless after hurting solis and wanted to finish him but solis, though hurt, caught him with a good 1-2 counter that ko'ed mayol.

mayol can bang and if czares can make calderon groggy, mayol can but this is if can catch calderon. also calderon is an intelligent fighter that he would either clinch or just run after getting hurt. mayol's chances on this one is pretty slim especially now that solis and hernandez fight have taken a lot from him.

My memory's playing games with me. I thought he was actually stopped by Kyowa. Boxrec says UD loss.

He was getting beat up pretty bad in the championship rounds, no more stamina.

had there been a 13th round, kyowa could have stopped mayol...mayol simply ran out of gas in the 12 as kyowa won it 10-8

Mayol is fun to watch for the first 5 rounds before he gasses out!

this guy has skills and power, unfortunately his stamina fails him.

he was competitive against solis before he got knocked out.

Not really just a puncher's chance.

Mayol can punch, and Calderon's slowed down a tick, so anything's possible. That said, Mayol is also a natural 105er, and he's not even in the same class in terms of skills. Calderon UD seems pretty inevitable.

This is true. I thought Mayol was a better prospect than Banal, Nietes, and Bautista. A shame Pacquiao wasn't able to buy his contract before he was moved too fast into elite competition like Solis after gassing out against Kyowa.

Most fighters don't get 3 title shots. This is a big opportunity for him and I hope he makes the most of it.
