From 1975 on, Ali won most of his fights on guile and
the will to win. Ali's talent at that point was pretty ordinary in reality.

Can Jones muster the same combination of assets, and pull out a win over
    JoeCal?

Joe must be careful of walking into a trap he built for himself.

If there is one guy that can do it..it's him !
He still has a lot of skills, now his mental composure has to match a great will to win.

If he has the legs he can win it. Not sure if he does 'cause he hasnt shown them in a while.

If hes determined enough mentally he should win pretty easily then he can avenge his loss to Tarver after Tarver beats Dawson then retire

Of course Roy does, just ask him. As soon as he gets done with Calzaghe he's moving up to heavyweight to stop Peter, Klitchsko, and Haye. Then he's dropping to down to super lightweight and taking out Hatton and Pacquiao. After that he's going to save Earth from a killer asteroid.

The difference between Jones and Ali is that Ali never abandoned the basics and dirty tactics section of his handbook.

Ali was always careful even in his late career. Jones more or less depended on speed and reflexes to avoid punches.

I guess in a way Calzaghe is the same but Calzaghe has adopted the dirty tactics to get by. That will probably be instrumental here. That and I think Calzaghe has a good bit left where Jones really doesn't.

    Main Entry: Fortitude
Pronunciation: \ˈfȯr-tə-ˌtüd, -ˌtyüd\ Function:noun Etymology:Middle English, from Latin fortitudin-, fortitudo, from fortisDate:12th century 1: strength of mind that enables a person to encounter danger or bear pain or adversity with courage

Yes Roy has the fortitude to face Calzaghe and the threat he possesses but it doesn't mean it will be enough for him to win. Roy is done, he hasn't looked good in ages and will be overwhelmed even by this version of Calzaghe.

I cant wait for this fight....I think that its a good time for it...If this fight would have happened in the late 1990's Jones would have whipped Joe badly. Now that Jones has slowed it will be an interesting fighting. I dont think that Jones is close to being the fighter that he was, but its a chance for us to see what kind of guts and ring smarts that Jones has. Now that he cant depend on his ungodly talent anymore.

    :rofl

    1. It's nothing to do with determination, he has been ko'd by tarver and johnson and is shot to peices.

2.joe cal is underfeated and beaten better opposition in kessler and hopkins then jones is in this stage of his career.

    3. Roy jones is my fav all time fighter, but i have to be honest after watching that snooze fest vs an even more shot tito he has no chance to beat joe cal.

    4. He has 2 losses to tarver and was so gun shy in the 3rd fight i think mentaly he can never beat tarver again.

    5. who really wants to see jones-tarver 4 :nut

6.jones is 3-3 in his last 6 fights and calzaghe is underfeated since he was 17 and is 45-0

7.it would be a miracle as joe is no prince badi adjmu and plus jones hasnt had a ko in 6 years and no way does he outpoint joe at 39 y/o

I'm tempted to leave you to your dreams and fantasies, however in the name of honesty I have to just remind you of what is probably clear in the back of your mind: The phrase "Ya got any excuses tonight, Roy?" will haunt Jones into and beyond the grave. He will never rest in peace for all of eternity.

And his grandkids will be named "Antonio" - all of them.
