I stopped boxing at the gym 2 years ago....(I started at 14 and went until I was almost 20). Now I am about 27 lbs heavier and most of it is muscle as I continued doing pushups/situps/lunges everyday and eating more.

I recently was thinking about going back and I tried shadow boxing and I noticed I felt a lot slower. Is it just lack of practice? Lack of stretching? Is the weight slowing me down?(I thought you could only slow down when you went above your natural weight... I never even lifted) Or am I just straight up ****ed? I used to be one of the fastest guys in the gym... Not sure if that'd be the case anymore...

For reference I used to weigh 160 at age 20 and now weigh about 187 at age 22.

27lbs? thats quite a lot of weight, its that and because you havnt trained in a while i guess. From what i think it also depends from where you have more muscle, are you top heavy?

that's my opinion i could be wrong.

Unless you had major shoulder injuries, surgery or some other physicality to impede proper training again, you shouldn't see a difference at all. It's very unlikely that two years ago you had elite technique along with speed. So if anything, you should be able to pick up where you left off and only improve from there.
Obviously losing weight (whether fat or muscle) would be a start.
