Does strong baseball pitch translate to punching power?

I remember watching baseball and see that pitchers throws balls at great speeds.

That said, does that mean a guy, who pitches very strong, also means he can punch very hard?

    comments?

It wouldn't necessarily hurt, but I don't believe it translates... throwing speed = punching power.

Nolan Ryan threw some of the better punches by a non-boxer I've seen when he beat the tar out of Robin Ventura.

I know a lot of pitchers...most of them have been pansies. At least most that I've played ball with anyways.

Not at all. Pitching speed is generated from an entirely different muscle set (forearm torque, driving off the calf and glutes, turning the wrist, etc.). I'd guess that a good shot putter can probably punch hard, however. That would be a type of throw derived more from the same muscle groups that generate punching power (traps, triceps, etc.)

I concur...I used to be a pitcher ( and don't forget the height of the
mound; ergo, Drysdale & Gibson from 10 feet above)

What really would be bizarre would be some "submarine" delivery
type pitcher throw bolo punches I guess.
