Does Tank punch harder than Manny Pac did in his prime?

I think it was Pac's speed & power combined Ledwaba couldnt handle. As I stated on his 122 fights- he came in at 131 on this fight night. Just beat Ledwaba's behind. I just don't know how good Ledwaba was- he got the vacant title in 1999 & lost it in 2001 to Pac- won his next 2, then lost his next 3. IMO that means Pac did was he was supposed to do.

Same with Jorge Solis a decent fighter that had a 1 pound advantage fight night. Solis was overwhelmed with punches in bunches. Shobox stats had him throwing 580 in less than 9 rounds- 140 landed. When he stopped him it was a barrage of punches, not any one bomb.
Now when Gamboa stopped Solis he came in 3lbs lighter than Jorge . That KD in round 2 was a simple one-two, no blitzing. 2nd KD was a barrage, 3rd kinda slip & punches, but the 4th round another 1-2 that dropped Solis-then he crumpled to a barrage.

Not sure why mention Larios as he got stopped previous fight vs Vazquez, then went the distance with Pac. I agree Diaz was rough or tough? but he wasn't a great champ. In fact the walk to the ring HBO crew is kinda clowned Pac saying he took the least credible champ. We all knew that. So to fight once at LW, shows he always could fight above 135 which was when I stopped stating Pac is a small guy moving up to fight bigger guys. That's what happens when anyone moves up in weight.

That was why I went beyond the thread's line of 135lb comparison of Tank, because he didn't stay there but once & he weighed- again as a welter.

Lastly, consider I stopped at 23 fights as the best way to compare the two. That is where Davis is at now. 23 fights Davis has more kos than Pac did @ 23 battles.
Doesn't make him stronger because Pac went thru several divisions to get to 135. & on his way there he had more decisions then did Tank so all the fights like Velezquez he was supposed to win IMO. That dude got knocked out 3x in a row, b4 taking on Pac & ended with 30 losses. They weren't bad decisions, he just was an ok fighter, so Pac gets the job done not accomplished a feat when he won over these guys.

As far a 3G, Canelo I can't make the connection here. I can only connect or compare Tank to Pac at 23 fights.

Dude Pac punched harder at 122 than he did at 135. Much harder. Have you seen the Ledwaba Pac broadcast. It became apparent that Pacquiao was punching just so hard that Ledwaba was totally on the defensive.

 

Pac didn't have particularly heavy hands up at welter, but his speed, precision and angles allowed for some real explosiveness.

It's why his 'power' has declined as he has aged and declined. The Manny that fought Cotto would have sparked Thurman relatively easily.

The likes of Foreman and Bailey maintain their power so well because they have truly heavy hands. Roy similar to Pac relied on speed and athleticism and his declined.

You're not taking into account who Pac has fought at welter when saying his KO rate is low. In the fight, he consistently put people down and had them hurt, and showed good power throughout. But they're some top-level guys. They ain't easy to KO.

Tank ain't stopping the likes of Bradley or Marquez either.

Pac was already small at 130. The guys he was fighting at that weight were bigger than him. The guys he fought at LW were bigger than him. Think about it, how many former LWs are actually smaller than Pac? Rios, Crawford, horn? Those guys drain to the weight as 90% of fighters do.

Pac wasn’t a guy who moved up weight because he outgrew the smaller weights and handled himself because he was big enough after all.

He was a small guy who overcame the small disadvantage with skills, speed and power and literally just moved up to 147 for ODLH.

Every guy at 140 or 147 is bigger than him.

Duran wasn’t a MW who beat Barkley (or was it smw?), he was just a LW with skills to make up for the lack of size.

As for Pac at 23 fights vs Davis at 23 fights. Again not really a fair comparison.

Davis is a protege who’s been training since she’s a child with strong amateur pedigree, anyone who comes out of the amateurs and navigated through the pros is suppose to run over their opponents. Pac meanwhile has to learn on the job and was suppose to be the fodder, and with nothing but grit and the gift, he was knocking people out.

Simply put, pac was still an amateur competing with pros, Tank was a protege pro competing with fodder pros.

The biggest tell as I said is levels. ATGs don’t bulldoze atg’s typically, Inoue donaire, ggg Canelo, it’s levels. Pac did that when he came up against atg’s. Let’s sell if Davis bulldozes through Loma or GRJ or Lopez.

Because it certainly wasn’t skills that got the job done for Pac, simply it was power and speed and even Morales who had an iron chin and had a warlike mentality chose to box (albeit aggressively) in their first fight.

Take tanks skills and polishness away and just have him rely on power and speed, can you see him bulldozing mab, morales and jmm? I can’t see it, I think they stop him.

 

I think 146 pound Tank should fight Keith Thurman next and then we can ask Keith what he thinks.
