Nah, you got a point about race trumping nationalism in america. I remember reading an article where this guy posts the racist e-mails he received the day after Mayweather vs. Hatton. It was brutal to say the least.

I agree. Everyone i knew was rooting for hatton including me, not because he was white, but because nobody can ****ing stand mayweather. citing race is laughable imo.

Most people i know are rooting for Taylor to win this whole thing.... including myself. I dont care that hes american or not, i just like him the best. My grandparents are danish though so a part of me would like to see kessler win, and im starting to like Froch, but overall im rooting for Taylor to win.

I really dont think many people (majority) care at all about race, as much as attitude, fighting style, ect, ect, when it comes to americans and boxing. Though i do notice blacks and mexicans tend to root for their own just as much as anyone else so who really gives a ****.

I know some Armenians who would be quick to disagree with you.

No this tournament is not racially motivated for the simple reason that is has not been promoted that way. Who in their right mind would do such a thing deliberately anyway? The majority of people in Europe and the US frown upon racism. It would simply be bad for business. + it would be unethical to try to stir up media attention by making it a black vs. white theme.

Now if anybody want to see a racial theme in the tournament then nobody can prevent them. But it has certainly not been the intention of the architects behind the tournament to drag race into the equation. That should be pretty clear for any rational human being.

Did it ever cross your mind they might have been supporting a nice-guy underdog against an arrogant champ?

I reckon Taylor will beat Abraham, but thats all for the USA in the first three bouts. Not to say there wont be style advatages/favourable matchups for Dirrel or Ward later on in the competition mind you.

I mean it just dawned on me the day before but you been thinking about the white vs black thing for a while havent you? Shows whats on your mind :good

told yall it was a racial thing..hes been thinking about it like many others I guess

If Bute and Pavlik were in and, say, Dirrell/Ward out, you would have had the same North American based/European based setup in round 1. Guarenteed. The racial pairings are just coincidental.

Not to mention: no way Kessler and Froch meet in round 1 (top 2 seeds, really); no way Kessler/AA meet (same promoter). We basically have top 3 seeds vs. bottom 3 seeds, which isn't surprising (flip Taylor/AA if you want, but it's a natural match anyway). You haven't thought about this much, have you?

Are there going to be guys in bars that "root for the black guy" or "root for the white guy" without knowing a thing about them? Yeah, of course. Lots of such people in this world. You're stooping to their level if you're finding actual racial significance here.

Great avatar...Cornell West is a genius. Now as for you...ehh jump off a cliff head first

The Brits always support their own no matter how cocky/gay/annoying they are. They supported Hamed when he was the biggest piece of **** to ever grace the sport. They supported Hatton when he was running around in g-strings shaking his ass in front of Mayweathers dad. The difference is America doesnt support its own when it comes to race.

Objectivity is never a bad thing. Kind of surprising, this post. Its pretty much the definition of a biased, nationalistic person. Who would want to be that let alone slight others for not being that?:huh

It also happens that these guys are six of the top guys in the Supermiddleweight division. The race doesn't make much of an issue, I reckon.

Edit: That said, any good marketing strategist would have taken the race into consideration, so of course they are cognizant of it.
