All I see on YouTube is Interviews of Mayweather spouting all this ridiculous rubbish, his behaviour after the Degale vs Badou Jack fight was especially idiotic.

Why is that promoters, other fighters and others involved in boxing feel the need to gloss over Mayweathers obvious flaws and shower him with respect just because of what he did in the ring?

Yeah TBE, 49-0 but also a serial woman beater, outside of the ring Mayweather should not be respected it puts boxing in a bad light tbh...

I don't like to get into a man's personal life so I never speak on it. As far as his influence in boxing it is great, but Floyd is not articulate enough to be so opinionated. He can talk about himself pretty well but it does not translate well when it comes to promoting his fighters or talking about social matters. He also wants to be a judge too. That's my dog in the ring doe.

He has done enough as a person for me to completely dislike him. This ultimately means nothing when I'm assessing who he is in the boxing world.

People have a natural respect for his defensive ability, his work ethic which has kept him at the top for 19 years and his close attention to understanding how points are actually scored in modern day boxing matches.
Beyond that, they shouldn't have to respect him at all. I respect both of these about him but I still don't respect him that much as a boxer despite this.

I would add that people in the boxing world suck up to him today because they think it's wiser to win his favour than burn a bridge as he has a relatively influential position in boxing. Shakur Stevenson didn't care though as he has a lot of talent and screw it, he has a greater team.

Floyd is shown respect in the boxing world and rightfully so. Yes, he's made bad decisions in life, his character is also deeply flawed, but in boxing, he's one of the best. When you're one of the best, then obviously people in that sport will give you that respect. I also respect Floyd as one of the most talented boxers this world has ever seen.

    This, excellent summary.

Brilliant fighter, but I don't approve of a lot of his out-of-the-ring antics.

I respect him more as a man and as a human being than I do as a fighter.

OK I didn't really mean that I just thought it would make me sound cool and contrarian.

This is a violent sport. With that comes domestic abuse and criminals. Alcoholics, assault, drugs, etc. This is the nature of a lot of people who decide to punch people for a living.

In the ring he was a god. The Boxing world has to accept and respect that.

outside the ring not 'AS' much, he is a 'normal' man outside the ring, to a point. He has bad points and tough times in his life like the rest of us do. He makes mistakes, we all make mistakes. People should not look down on him for all his poor decisions. We all make poor decisions so no one can preach about his bad traits.

There is not enough press outside the ring of all the amazing things he does for charity and his friends/staff.
he has created so many jobs for people who may have had no hope and paid those people a wage to be in his team! to help him and be part of a family. he purchased them presents because he could!

He has my respect in and out of the ring what ever but the simple answer to your question is in my first line.

    have a good day all
