I dont think so. Problem is that people are looking at prime Briggs and older Wlad, but I think Wlad would box cautiously and win. Younger Wlad I felt went more for the knockouts
Pre steward LL was an even bigger monster but he wasn't the better fighter. Yeh I think pre streward LL would have done it fast.
That's the same Briggs that was schooled by 49 y.o. Foreman. So his only chance is lucky punch, otherwise Wlad KO's him.
No arguments here. Today, anyway, or anytime in this century. 90's Briggs might have a puncher's chance.
Don't agree with the 1st part. Did you see what problems Lewis had vs slow and stiff Frank Bruno? Not saying that Wlad is favourite though, I think the chances are even. I guess Wlad from Mercer fight KO's Lewis from McCall fight or Bruno fight most likely :deal
Wlad should be able to beat any version of Briggs without too much hassle. The word is "should" ... Briggs has a monstrous punch if nothing else and he would always have a chance against your average HW chin.
Of course Briggs even now has a punchers chance against anybody but there's a reason Wlad has a $100m in the bank and he doesn't. :deal
Actually there is a possibility, Briggs had quick hands and power. He was quick of foot, without the best chin Wlad might get completely ran over. if he made it through the first few rounds, he'd be safe
After careful and objective thought....Yeah....Briggs might actually beat Wlad..........IN CHECKERS.....Boxing.....NEVER HAPPEN.
Probably not any post Peter 1 version of Vlad. He'd have a decent early round puncher's chance against the young Klitschko that easily crumbled against any form of adversity and didn't yet master the art of clinching.
Arm punching kickboxer Vitali could only hit him just an hair under his chin resistance. Wladimir hits harder enough to pass that level and knock him down and out Prime Briggs was maybe a gatekeeper
Actually, pre-Steward Wlad would close the deal even faster. His defence was less sound, but his pressure and damage output was something else. Only an iron chin could keep you upright enough to survive the storm and punch back. Sanders, Puritty and Brewster all had one. Briggs, didn't.
Sanders was a glass cannon just like a young Briggs. He mugged Vlad early and made him crumble quickly under the pressure. If the younger, faster, more athletic Briggs caught him early he could do the same thing.
