He seems a right gobshite but I like that line about people who compile P4P lists being the same as those who use numbers to try and figure out who would win out of Batman and Superman. Thats pretty much how I see it.

Pound-for-pound doesn't exist unless you're talking about a small guy going against a bigger guy and fighting on even terms with him.

Which doesn't actually happen much in boxing these days, (OR in MMA any more, to my knowledge, though I don't follow that sport).

Pound-for-pound is Bob Fitzsimmons or Harry Greb at 165 pounds slugging it with guys who go 190, 200 pounds, beating them or going even with them. That's proof that they are greater pound-for-pound.

If one fighter's 135 pounds can be competitive against another's 155 pounds, he's better, pound for pound. But you really never see that in boxing these days.

You probably do with the difference between weigh in weights and ring weights

didnt baldomir and margarito fight far far above 147 for example

This is still displayed when an unnatural 147 pounder fights a natural one i.e. Pac vs Cotto. That is also a clear indication of P4P. Leonard vs Hagler etc

When we see a guys natural weight but then see him tearing through weight classes ala De La Hoya than that is pure P4P stuff. DLH could once make 130 pounds but then competed at 154/160 pounds.
