You have to add in the intangibles, such as what if the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight does not live up to the hype . The Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight ends in a draw or controversial decision. What if another boxer scores bigger or better wins before the year ends.

I would say no because they will rematch.

So if somehow they split then neither wins. if somebody goes 2-0 they win

but to answer the thread question NO

only way it does is if its ends in a KO or theres mutiple knockdowns. no knockdowns means it wont live to hype. somebody has got to get dropped to live up to hype

    Kind of all depends, innit?

Are you asking whether one technically beating the other automatically trumps anything that anybody else could possibly do in the year? No, that's ridiculous. I don't even know if that would have necessarily been true in 2009.

Techinally NO but they way boxing works it most likely will trumph anything anybody else does.

Unless GGG can beat Cotto,Canelo and somebody else then nobody else can compete.

If it's a crummy fight, or a robbery then no way. If someone beats either fighter more convincingly in their next fight, then it would go to them. Then you have to consider the other guys on the p4p list. If someone beat Klitschko, that would be huge. Golovkin, Rigondeaux, and Gonzalez have all got that aura of invincibility about them too, where nobody can imagine them losing.

Also, I like to see an active fighter with three or four knockouts or dominant performances in a year get the award the way that Donaire, Golovkin, and Stevenson recently won it. One win can be trumped by a series of good works. Say Roman Gonzalez rematches Estrada, who some people also have on the p4p list as his arch rival. He could put the cherry on top fighting former p4pers Viloria or Segura and steal the award that way.

Or what if Golovkin moved up and beat Ward and Froch at super middleweight? Sometimes freaky stuff like that does happen. If Cotto beats Canelo and GGG then every knee must bend and every tongue confess he is king.

Oh yeah? Even if by UD? Then why isn't Marquez the FOTY/decade because of KO6?
