World class what? Champions? Not a chance if u are talking about eubanks or collins. Name me 1 A list Mw star they beat apart from nigel benn.

Benn by far ...by far....has the best resume ...with wins over mclellan, barkley, dewitt, and malinga

Apart from benn who did the other two beat who was a top 5 world class contender.

Collins can say he beat benn and eubanks.

But none of these guys ever faced the true elite of champions and contenders apart from to some extent benn.

Mccallum, kalambay, jackson, jones jnr,toney,hopkins,nunn....they didnt face any of them

A strange one for me this.

As a youngster it was Bruno, Naz and Eubank that got me into boxing.

I knew Bruno wasn't the best HW cos of Tyson and Holyfield but I always believed Eubank was the best MW in the world.

Until I actually followed the sport closely years after his retirement and looking back now I can see how weak his resume was. He never fought the best in the world, just the best in Britain.

His skills were incredible imo. I think he could have upset Toney if he caught him at the right time. But calling him a great, too far, he's very good though, so are the rest. All world class, none of then are greats though imo.

Yes...in "The Best I've Faced" series, McCallum said this of Watson, "He was so strong, it was a gruesome fight, 11 rounds of back and forth hell."
This is coming from a fighter, I'd consider an ATG.

Going by their résumés, sure. They all clearly fall short. (though Benn has the best, despite having the h2h losses to both of the others)

In terms of talent which you could transplant into any era and find them successful, though, I think all three qualify as borderline great.

Very good. I'm not British, but I followed the British scene quite closely back then. I think both were hell of a good fighters, Benn and Eubank I mean, who made enough domestically that in this rare instance, that the US didn't matter that much.

    Great? What is the yardstick?

thing is, if you pyss around with a wbo title for years in the 90s then you aren't ging to be great.

its like a WBF titlist today making a big set of defences and trying to convince us the are great, when they are still sub-euro.

Yeah but Calzaghe is considered by most to be great, and was honestly even before he beat Kessler, Hopkins or Jones.

Babysitting the lightly-regarded WBO strap at home for most of your career makes it hard to achieve greatness, but with enough longevity, as long as there are some "decent" names in the mix, it can be managed.

so not true, since Kessler was his first good defence. Kessler was his first step up to making one, shame it was his last fight and he followed through only when Kessler was injured, but ran from him outside that.
