Does the hopkins of 07-08 do any better against dawson

  1. Does the 42/43 yr old hopkins who fought calzaghe and pavlik do any better against chad dawson ?

    He'd do well for longer than he did in the actual fight, but ultimately wouldnt be able to keep the pace for long enough and get marginally outpointed by the younger man.

    Hopkins who beat pavlik would of done better. Still would be close tho, very close.

    Similar sort of fight because of styles and the way Hopkins is, it will be much closer, possibly a split decision for either man.

    Hopkins from then would have struggled also however would hav taken advantage of Dawsons spells of inactivity, its obvious the fights with Pascal and the inactivity from the first dawson fight took its toll on him

    The reason Hopkins lasted for so long was because he never had many tough fights

    Jones, Taylor, Calzaghe and Dawson all have one thing in common - Hand Speed

    People who constantly pressure Hopkins can beat him but Dawson switches off in fights which can only mean a Hopkins decision (2007-08 version)

    Dawson was under a different trainer in 07-08, I thought Dawson fought much better with Eddie Muhammad then his current trainer John Scully.

    I think Dawson would have beat him.
