Freddie roach teaches to come up onto the ***** of the left foot after completion of the left hook. However is that motion a push or a complete brake in segment?
Its confusing what you are trying to say. When throwing the left hook, your right foot should be flat and you should be on the ***** of your left foot.
Both feet come of the heel, theres a window of 15 to 25 degrees. As they come up the knees drop using the same window for purchase, and balance. So everything is working as it should, to make the body move in any direction smoothly.
Agreed! Since the hips should swing forward propelling your weight forward. This idea by DW is hard to grasp and I agree with much of what he says but in this case s**** is right. Both hips should do a 180 degree turn to the left otherwise the punch is short and the longer the punch the harder and faster the punch.
You guys are making this too complicated. Shift your weight to the front of the body and rotate your hips and then shoulders to and through your target.
If you propery transfer your weight from your left side to your right (best way to ensure this happens is to start rotating your right hip first) your heels will naturally rise
What Steel says, plus it depends where the hook starts and finishes, depends on length and direction.
If you whip your hook properly it'll start behind your hip, and the rotation of the right hip will pull n turn your left hip over and the shoulder and this fist will follow. If you push it your hook is Infront of your hips. Although it seems unnatural, and many would try to correct it, your hips should drive the shoulders to create more torque and also give your hook the circular motion---which keeps it out of your opponents field of vision.
In the other thread D.W gave us examples of boxers who keep there lead foot flat when throwing the lead hook namely, rigo ggg roman and lomo. You guys who are saying to lift the lead heel as opposed to keeping the whole foot flat whats your explanation to how these top lvl boxers throw their lead hook? Surely you must be saying theyre throwing their lead hooks wrong?
Nah man not at all. There's always variations of how to throw! Mine is mainly a tactical kinesiogocal look at things--boxers like floyd R craw dre ward. GGG also throw his left hook flat like he's trying to stab you, and aims to go around the elbow....so he needs more circular motion this a wider hook. You don't fix something if it's not wrong my man. Imagine someone trying to tell Danny Garcia he's pushing his left hook lol! But his surely doesn't follow my description. Nonito do site Oscar Valdez generate a lot of whip on their hooks throwing it the way I described.
