0:7 seconds he pulled his left shoulder back. Question is did burley transfer his weight forward prior to the left hook or did he throw the punch the way greys teaches by simply falling backwards?
That I realize but where was Burley's weight distribution was it on the front or back leg just before he threw the left hook?
http://www.sugarboxing.com/wp-content/gallery/sb_the_left_hook_gap/sb-srl-masterclass-hook-final.gif SRL didn't turn over the lead ankle both feet are flat! http://www.sugarboxing.com/wp-conte...sb-srl-masterclass-hook-otherguy-two-view.gif Back heel is up front heel turns over = poor stability because of minimal contact with the floor. Minimal contact with floor= dissipating power.
You can't see SRL's left heel release to allow his him to rotate his hip and throw the hook?? All that's happened is he hasn't executed maximum rotation and therefore their isn't maximum power. I could throw a hook with almost zero rotation in my body but that would be a weak/arm punch. Maximum rotation results in maximum power. Most boxers would look for medium rotation and power so they can land their punches. However it depends on the circumstances. If I had a fighter completely out on his feet then I might go for maximum rotation/power to get the stoppage. If it's early in the fight then I wouldn't land the punches so I might reduce rotation and increase speed of delivery.
