Calzaghe has a few fights left in him, but i think he'll retire. Same for Hopkins; he's 44 in a few months, though he looked 24 against Pavlik. Glen Johnson is 39. Roy Jones is 39 and done. Tarver turns 40 next week. Clinton Woods is 36.

The only young gun is Chad Dawson. He's got a lot of speed, fluid combinations, decent power and good stamina. I think his chin is questionable, but i don't really see what LHW can take advantage of that at this point. Certainly not Tarver, who might rematch him.... a pointless fight if i've ever seen one.

Kessler might go up to LHW and make a megafight with Dawson or one of the old guys, but that aside, what talent is there to still be around 3-5 years from now? Adamek went up to cruiserweight also.

I think you'd have to dig really deep to find a division with the top5 avering nearly 40 years old.

Hopkins vs Dawson would be good also, by the way.

The better question is "Does the sport of boxing have much of a future"?

Kessler and his people clearly want no part of Bad Chad.

Boxing will be fine. All sports are cyclical. We're just going through a bit of a down time. Last year, actually, in most people's eyes, was a good year for the sport. Look at the UFC. Ten years ago, it didn't exist. Dana White and his business partners made it happen in a big way. Boxing just needs some intelligent people at the top, making intelligent decisions. They don't really have anyone right now I would trust to give me directions to the nearest Walmart. Plus, boxing is only one heavyweight superstar away from being on the cover of Sports Illustrated again.

Why wouldn't it? The only thing dead is the American heavyweight division and perhaps the LHW division. We've had a lot of great fights recently, Margarito-Cotto, Catsidis-Casamayor, Vasquez-Marquez III, Marquez-Pac, Kessler vs Calzaghe, etc, i don't see that much decline.

I think you're jumping the gun here, big time. Honestly, he seems too limited to me to dominate a division.
