Does the light heavyweight division have much of a future?

nah Dawson will beat him right now, Cloud isn't ready for Dawson.

The best prospects in the LHW division are Tavoris Cloud, Shaun George, Chris Henry, and Adrian Diaconu. Of course I still think Dawson is the future of this division, but the LHW division isn't dead. Dawson and any of those 4 prospects could be anyone below the LHW division.

 

I'm sure that Action and others, including myself, are concerned about boxing's future despite the number of good fights we've had recently. (Although I wouldn't put Kess versus Cal with the rest of the ones you listed; that was kind of one sided.)

ESPN just cut Wednesday Night Fights and Telefutura dropped it's boxing coverage as well. Neither of those are good signs, particularly when MMA is showing up prime time on CBS and and also taking some of the dates that Showtime used to have for boxing. I actually know fewer people who follow boxing closely now than I did ten years ago. I still love and enjoy the sport, but I am concerned about it's future.

 

Hopkins would make Dawson look stupid, all these Dawson huggers would toss him under the bus when B-Hop bust him up.

 

Then why doesn't Hopkins want to fight him? Calzaghe doesn't want to fight Dawson, so lets see a Hopkins-Dawson match. And we'll see who'll be tossed under a bus, because it won't be Dawson that's for sure.

 

Nobody wants to fight Dawson cause hes got no fans and brings no money and nobody would pay for a PPV to watch him, thats the only reason.

Hes lucky if he gets 2,000 people to watch his fights live and that was against Tarver, Dawson is a no namer in terms of world boxing.

 

You never can tell these days. There is a guy by the the name of Travis Cloud who looks like he could have a bright future in the light heavyweight division. Maybe a showdown with Dawson in a few years.

 

From all the Dawson topics he seems to have plenty of fans, he doesn't attract mainstream fans like Hopkins or Calzaghe does, but that's because he fights on Showtime. And almost ALL fight fans knows who Dawson is and there is millions of them.

A no namer in world boxing? Of course he is, his resume proves it, beating Harding, Adamek, Johnson, and Tarver. He even got HBO and Calzaghe's attention, just admit it Dawson whould whoop Hopkin's ass right now.

 

He didn't whoop Glen Johnsons ass did he?

Hopkins is a much more complete veteran fighter than Johnson, i see Hopkins making Dawson look like a novice and busting him up like he did to Pavlik, its almost guaranteed you picked Pavlik to beat Hopkins.

If he has so much fans why don't they go to watch him fight?

He basically fights in small halls holding a couple of thousand, Dawson needs Hopkins and Calzaghe more than they need him, they are the only people who will see him get a decent payday.

 

Actually the Johnson/Dawson fight was VERY close that could of went either way, it just so happened it went in Dawson's favor. And no I didn't pick Pavlik to beat Hopkins. But you have to understand Hopkins isn't like Johnson who constantly puts pressure on you, he's a boxer/counter-puncher and that will favor Dawson because he likes to box on the outside. Dawson isn't like Pavlik, who's one dimensional and slow, he's faster than Hopkins and very skilled. He will expose Hopkins for the old man he is and because of his speed, Hopkins will find it very difficult to counter-punch.

Oh and Dawson would beat Johnson in a rematch convincingly next time, and since Hopkins doesn't want to fight Dawson, that's most likely Dawson's next fight.

 

He's not limited at all. He has a good jab, has great reflexes and speed and throw's in combinations. You need to watch more of him, I bet you think all he can do is punch. He's definitely more well rounded than Diaconu.

 

Chris, I am glad to know that. The growing popularity of boxing in Germany and Eastern Europe is one of the few really positive trends in the sport for a long time. :good
