I'm not so sure about that. Lets not forget what Marquez did to Pacquiao in their 4th fight who was about the same age then as GGG is now. And Pacquiao was a similar age then to Canelo now. Now I highly doubt GGG could spark Canelo out cold like Marquez did to Pac, Canelo is way better defensively than Pac ever was, BUT GGG could surprise Canelo in a 3rd fight especially after a war with Bivol and Canelo coming back down in weight.

I don't think GGG has regressed very much between 2018-2022. He's pretty well preserved for a 40 year old, and I would expect him to perform as well as he did against Canelo in 2017-2018 if not better. That might sound crazy but think about the experience he got from fighting Canelo, he learned a lot from that and realized his mistakes and has had a lot of time to think about how to correct thoe mistakes and approach Canelo differently this time. I could see GGG be more economical in a 3rd fight which could serve him well, with less weak, ineffective jabs and more well placed power punches. Of course the casuals and even the self deprecating, built in excusemaking GGG fans would expect an easier Canelo win, but with a different trainer, a different approach, and a well preserved GGG he's still, even at 40, arguably the toughest test for Canelo south of 175. Canelo had to fight out of his mind to eek out a razor close decision after a razor close draw, and if GGG hasn't regressed and slowed down much, I would expect the same kind of war a 3rd time.

Much has been made of GGG's age of 40, but there hasn't been the kind of wear and tear on GGG that we've seen in other fighters. Everyone expected Pacquiao to mop the floor with Marquez and have a much easier time beating him a 4th time because he was much younger but we saw what happened to everyone's shock. I wouldn't expect that in Canelo GGG 3, but I would expect GGG to surprise and come just as close to beating Canelo as he did 4-5 years ago. Yes Canelo has become more dominant since then, but he hasn't fought anyone GGG's caliber since then. It's easier to be more dominant against lesser opponents, but against GGG, all we've ever seen is close hard to score rounds between them and there's nothing I've seen since to think a 3rd fight would be any different.

I was thinking of that example myself the other day of Pacquiao and Marquez. Everyone wrote Marquez off but he got juiced up bulked up well and KO'd Pacquiao.
