    Neither are separate races.
How can they be the victims of racism?

There are three races of man:
    Mongoloid
    Negroid
    Caucasoid

In the UK, "Asian" is commonly used to refer to people with Indian-Pak1stan-Bangladesh origins, whereas in a the US most people use "Asian" to described people further east, who would be called "oriental".

I can't say "oriental" is used much really here, I don't know if it's deemed politically-incorrect here, but it's tsill kind of archaic. But we can't just say "Asian", I guess people often just say "Chinese"

"Asian" is kind of ridiculous, if we're describing someone's "race" or looks. Asia is MASSIVE, and it stretches from Turkey to Japan, from Siberia to Malaya. To say someone looks "Asian" is as vague as it gets.

But then "Chinese" is just wrong, bit like calling all white Europeans "English".

Not sure why we can't just say "yellow".
"Black" and "white" are fair play, so let's keep it simple for the kids.

As for Abraham Lincoln, I don't think there's anything ridiculous in saying he was "racist".
There seem to be different interpretations of what "racist" means.

If you start from the point that the whole system was/is racist.
In other words, a whole class system or hierarchy based on "race". If most people accept or defend the system, it doesn't make it any less racist. Abraham Lincoln abolished slavery, he wasn't aiming for equality. He stressed his commitment to inequality.
The British Empire abolished slavery decades earlier but clearly the empire was based on racial equality, and it continued to grow.

I don't see it being completely "relativistic" at all.
You can have a society full of racists, s*exists, or whatever.
It doesn't have to be a minority or considered an extreme position.

I agree, but where are the zombies and vampires now to speak out against the injustice ? Wiped out, or living on reservations.

There are no gerbils left on the Gaza strip, but they are thriving in Tel Aviv where the night clubs are. That's something worth thinking about. Wake up America.

Morality does not really matter when evaluating a fighter's greatness as a fighter. However, when evaluating them as a man, it is a far greater factor. There's no reason why a man can't be a moral being AND a great champion.

In the 12th book of Ovid's Metamorphoses Nestor tells stories of several great Greek heroes. When Tlepolemus, Hercules' son, asks Nestor why he doesn't mention Hercules, Nestor replies that Hercules sacked Nestor's city, killed his brothers, and enslaved his sisters. Others may praise him, but Nestor never will.

By the way, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter was a much better movie than it had any right to be with that premise and title.

Some good commentary in this thread. Appreciate everyone's thoughts.

However, I did some deeper research on Ali based on comments from Unforgiven and Bill in this thread. I was disappointed in what I learned, and this is coming from someone who was raised by a father who lionized Ali.

When I have some time, I'm going to start a new thread on what I found and my reaction.

Bear in mind that Ali did eventually convert to a more orthodox and less strident form of Islam in his later years. That doesn't excuse his behaviour toward Frazier, or some of the positions that he held regarding racial segregation...But it does provide proof of the fact that morality isn't always static, and can develop over time.

He's still one of the greatest fighters who ever lived, imo.

i'm not that interested in what fighters do outside the ring, but i always liked the fact ali was able to admit the noi **** was wrong and correct his mistakes.

lincoln vs vampires really was a damn fun film btw.
