Does the rjj v bhop rematch count?

    The reason why I ask is because rjj was obviously past his prime when bhop got his second chance.
    Roy Jones jr had even been knocked out in the first round in his previous fight against Danny Green.

    The second part of my question is had the fight been made earlier, do you think the outcome would have been different?

    Personally I think any time before the Ruiz fight rjj would have won and any time after the Ruiz fight, bhop would have won.

    That's just me though, what do you guys think?

    I am a huge Hopkins fan but that win meant absolutely nothing, Jones was shot and had been shot for years.

    Hell no. Nobody ever talks about that fight nor remembers it. It was so far past due date it was completely useless.

    No, and I don't really knock Hopkins for the loss to Roy either. Neither guy was prime either time they fought, Roy was a bit better then and Hopkins was much better the second time through. They should have had a catchweight fight following the MCS though.

    Jones will always have the advantage or Hopkins in all time ranking, since they both fought when both were on top and champions. The later fight was a joke.

    Neither was a champion in their first fight. They were fighting for the vacant IBF strap. I'm with you 100% on everything else though. Jones proved himself superior to the two other greats in his era, Hopkins and Toney. That counts for a lot.

    I agree. I should have said championship level. I saw Jones fight in Reno,Nevada against a guy named Art Serwano. Absolutely scary power with speed. And that was a year before the Hopkins fight. Jones recently has not been near that.

    you know there was a comparison of Hearns vs. Hopkins a month ago on the classic section of ESB.. It came out pretty much even. But I think Hearns style with the jab and right hand would be terrible for Hopkins. I do not see how Hopkins would get away from Tommy's right hand. Just a thought.

    Of course it does count. Bernard was older.. that's why he didn't KO him. If they had rematched in '02 (or '96 or '99), Bernard would have KOed him then. :deal:deal:deal

    Jones is such a shell of his old self. It's sad watching him continue on. And I read something yesterday that Jones said he won't quit until he gets a cruiserweight belt.
