Hope he means in the history of British boxing it is the greatest. Should be a fun action packed fight to see who the number two in the division is
Even that is a stupid statement These fanboys like to rate significance based on how many people went to watch it He thinks Hatton vs Lazcano was bigger than Ali vs Cooper at Wembley because more people went
FMJ - Great fighter Pac - Shot to **** Bradley - Overhyped, boring, beat by a shot to **** Pac. Canelo - overhyped. Schooled by Floyd Lara - C-Level Moron.
By what standard is Pac "shot to ****"? He just had his most impressive win in YEARS! Being "schooled" by the best fighter in the world means what exactly? If you think that WW/LMW which has more top 10 p4ps between them than the otehr weights combined is weak, then you are a moron. Plain and simple.
I'm interested. I mean, it's not a super fight or even a major A level fight between two highly skilled boxers. It's the best that England can give, so I expect to see a beat-em-up by two mediocre skilled brawlers and the typical wacky English referee.
It really gets none at all. Nothing. And, I live in both Vegas & California. Boxing has been completely dead over here for a long time. Sports are obviously massive (NFL, MLB, NBA, and even college football and basketball (are both HUGE)) but boxing has almost no following. Culturally, all the kids want to get to the NFL or NBA. If the youth aren't participating in a sport (and they are not), then they are not following it either, and so it simply languishes. Out of 310 million people, in a quiz some miniscule percentage might (and it is a real long shot) get three "active" boxing names right - FMJ, Hopkins, & RJJ. No else has any name recognition and even BHOP is not all that well known really and RJJ is close to forgotten as his prime ended more than ten years ago. Since Ali, only a few US boxers had any significant name recognition: Sugar Ray Leonard, Tyson, Dela Hoya, & now FMJ (though less than the other three by a long, long, distance), and in the second tier, maybe Holyfield & RJJ. That is basically it. From the UK, Lennox would be the most known over this forty year period with Ricky second (for coming to Vegas and fighting prime versions of Floyd and Pac). That is it. Froch is a complete unknown (so is our own Andre Ward for that matter). Unless you found two Italian-American boxing fans, Calz is as famous over here as the guy who invented mince pie (i.e, a total unknown - and he made no impact with his performances in the US). That said, the tiny percentage of US sport fans that follow boxing will hope to see a good fight (without the typical British stoppage). But, the answer to "DOES THE USA CARE ABOUT FROCH V GROVES 2" is that it is not even possible to care when it simply does not even know about the upcoming fight, who these fighters are, or that there was a first fight either.
Welterweight is weak? Do you know anything about boxing? Welterweight is the strongest division in boxing right now.
REAL boxing fans are excited! I can't wait for this one. As far as the casual fans of America they only two names. And it's not Froch or Groves. As far as the American coverage; It has not been that great but it is on HBO which is somewhat of a big deal. Froch and Groves are headlining the HBO card with no help from an America.
Not that much buzz but real fight fans here in Mexico and the US are waiting for this really good entertaining fight, not like ward's snoozefests
casual fans only know Mayweather and Pac ...once the HW division went so did the casual boxing fans in USA. If your talking about actual boxing fans in the USA though hell yes the first fight was good unfortunately got a bad stoppage ...gotta get smoger to ref it this time I pray they do anyhow.
