It will happen, he had the perfect excuse not to fight him last time, so for him to chase him and reschedule the fight would be a huge waste of time, unless of course he plans to stay sidelined til he gets his shot at Joshua, which seems unlikely.
I've never been high on Ortiz. He was so slow in moving up. A late starter to begin with, but when he finally does, he's roided to the gills vs a middling CW. He proceeds to slip and dodge a certain type of fighter, having balked at the Povetkin fight, not even considering it. Then, gets with GBP and passes on a fight on the big stage vs Fedosov for a WBC minor title and a leap into an eliminator. Swerving the WBC vada program until forced and ofc, comes dirty. This guy has NEVER gotten through the VADA controls, and has only made fights allowing exemptions, and/or having such liberal standards, that prime Bonds, Swarzenegger, McGwire, Hogan, etc would probably pass mid cycle. Wilder ran like a gazelle waking up cuddled in a pride of lions when Povetkin popped for a residual level of a glorified aspirin. If he did not have inside knowledge of Ortiz detoxing, he would not go forward. Ortiz has come to the conclusion that he will NEVER get paid dirty, so cash out and become an opponent or go to Cuba as a comfortable man
Yeah, I was never sold on Ortiz either, he looked good vs Jennings but Jennings fought s stupid fight and went toe to toe with him, standing right in front on him to be hit. I said going into the Scott fight he might struggle with his movement which he did. Ortiz has been made out to be this monster who was avoided by everyone but the truth is he chose not to fight Ustinov, chose to not enforce his mandatory vs Joshua choosing Wilder instead. Ortiz is a top heavyweight though, but not the threat some have made him out to be.
