That's pretty much it. Taylor fought washed up former contenders (Joppy), smaller guys (Ouma, Spinks), or got very debatable decisions (Hopkins, Wright). He isn't underrated at all. In fact, if anything he's overrated. He's basically an HBO-created fraud. A solid fighter, but one who should have lost his decisions to both Hopkins and Wright - and WOULD have, if it wasn't for the power of HBO!

That guy went through tough fight after tough fight after tough fight

Dont see too many guys willing to do that these days

I watched the vid multiple times and the punch actually landed on JT's shoulder and he crouched up and bent towards so it seemed like he was hit with it. The ringside announcers were shocked it wasn't ruled as a KD but the ref made the right call in the end.

True. One look at his resume and you quickly come to the conclusion that he's easily the most expeirenced fighter in the Super Six. Leaves me flabbergasted when people then question him being chosen for this as opposed to Bika or Bute.

 

How good you are is NOT dictated by whether or not you STOP a guy. Ridiculous to even suggest.

Maybe so, but Joe Calzaghe is virtually all of the reason why Lacy is so poor now! Pre-Calzaghe, Lacy was the real deal, doing the business, he was talked about the 168lbs version of a peak Mike Tyson, which was laughable!

Post-Calzaghe, Lacy has not had the same confidence about him, he's not self assured as he once was, etc. From a mental point of view, Lacy has nevrr fully recovered from the defeat he suffered against Joe!

 

I was never on Taylor's bandwagon to begin with. He never deserved to be ranked P4P because he didn't really beat Hopkins and then he got a gift "draw" with Wright. After that he feasted on lighter weight fighters like Ouma and Spinks - and even then, didn't beat those guys convincingly. Since then has been exposed by both Pavlik and Froch as the overrated fraud he was all along. Without HBO pushing him along, he would have never "won" the MW title.

Taylor's nickname should be "Gift Decisions," because that's basically the story of his career.

 

his flaws were obviously much more pronounced and on display in pav I and froch fights but having both of them w/in seconds of being outta there doesnt exactly mean he was exposed as a fraud.

 

Man shut up for real. Taylor imo beat Hopkins twice in a row. Did Hopkins land more? Of course cause he's a slick fighter but he wasn't busier enough to win the fight and just like in the first fight, Hopkins started to get busier a bit too late. I'm sick of People saying hbo is the reason Taylor hasn't lost a fight before facing Pavlik. Look in the Hopkins both fights, who were Hopkins promoters? Hmm gbp? the same gbp that hbo has a great relationship with? But yet hbo would screwed Hopkins over for Taylor? lol come on. Now about the Wright fight. I got no problem many thought Wright won the fight but imo i thought it was a draw cause even though Wright landed more, he didn't throw enough punches while Taylor was throwing more and when Taylor did that, he was throwing with harder shots. Taylor left eye in which was closing fast was cause by a headbutt in which the replay shows it while Wright face was busted up. Wait are you saying Taylor didn't beat Ouma convincingly? Stfu zakman.
