Dubois performed as bad as expected , its more an eye opener how usyk performed lying on the canvas for +4 minutes after a shot on the beltline .

He's young but he has been a pro for over 6 years and the worrying thing is in that time he really hasn't changed at all as a fighter.

Compare his progress and development to Joshua who honestly when he turned pro didn't impress me all that much, had raw talent and size but skill wise wasn't too different from Dubois now, but he improved a load of things from countering, movement, developing a decent inside game and a good uppercut as well as tightening his guard and not telegraphing his right hand as badly as before.

I simply don't think Dubois has the ring IQ to really become much of a better fighter. He's just a big unit with power and not much else.

Yeah he was rushed but with good reason. Warren probably only signed Joyce to feed him to Dubois and hope Dubois would KO him and build Dubois into a star in the UK. But instead he failed that test and it was Joyce who became more popular in the UK and became regarded as a top contender.

Warren performed some kind of black magic to get Dubois a shot awithTrevor Bryan who might be the worst fighter to hold a heavyweight title which DDD duly won as expected. But then came the Lerena fight, meant to be an easy first defence, instead DDD picked himself off the canvas 3 times.

I think Warren has done remarkably well for DDD. Dubois in reality is a domestic level heavyweight who he's managed into a minor belt and a shot at the unified champion making Dubois more money that he really should have given his talent and ability. Had Warren continued slowly bringing him along it's likely Dubois would of lost again, against some unheralded fighter and underdog well before he ever got a title shot.

Absolutely beyond me, a regular guy at the local gym is giving his all and passing out on a barbell deadlift, and Dubois is in a title shot to become champion of the world with millions and millions worth of pay days from that leverage and he decides to feel sorry for himself DURING the title shot fight. Absolute madness.

I understand he is inexperienced at this level but he is still 25 years old, and he should know better.

cry/complain/meltdown AFTER the final bell rings.

Fight your damn heart out during the fight, try and do anything, dont get knocked down by a jab.

Then again… same thing happened to Yarde
    Against
    Kovalev lol

Dubois imo performed far below what was expected.

We expected him to be bad and inferior. I didnt expect him to be absolutely absent the whole fight. Chisora did way better.l, and he was way past prime.

Well, I am and have always been a fan of most heavyweights. But I never really got what people saw in Dubois previously. He could hit hard to an extent, but he was pretty robotic and stiff. He quit against Joyce. He never seemed to have the natural instincts of a fighter. He was just good at taking instruction.

I was hoping he'd matured a bit and had improved. I thought I was probably being too hard on him. Everyone loves a comeback story. So I tried giving him every benefit of the doubt going into this fight. Didn't think he'd win, but I wanted him to show me something ... anything, really.

And, after he quit again - without any injuries this time - now I don't care to watch any more of his fights.

So that would be a "Makes Him Look Worse" for me. :ohno

The only damaging punch he landed was an illegal low blow. Got knocked out by a hav and outboxed throughout the fight. He looked about as good as I expected. Usyk relies on speed and skill and did it in the rain on a slick surface against a bigger stronger guy.

Who else is giving up as much size and weight as Usyk and taking on all top challengers? The fact that he was hurt by an illegal punch is supposed to count against him? He recovered and won as expected. Dubois was never in command except for the brief period after he landed an illegal punch. This is boxing, not street fighting. The ref made the right call. Suck it!

He's a quitter with limited talent. He'll be out of boxing in a few years.

Yes because he quit. He also never showed any urgency to win at any point.

I don’t think Dubois can improve on this. Usyk will raise his game if there is a rematch. A classic case of European class fighter causing a stir against a world class fighter. He’s reached his level. As for low blow or not he’s not getting a Shmeling vs Sharkey here. Most he can hope for is a rematch. Then it’s back to domestic fights.

I voted for "worse" but there might need to be an entry for "same".

Sure, but Chisora was a well proven gatekeeper, with a record of giving top fighters a tough night (before ultimately losing).

Dubois has never beaten anyone with nearly the record Chisora has... And got dominated by Joyce who is an overhyped fringe contender at absolute best.

Dubois has the resume of a prospect or low level gatekeeper at best, this was always a mismatch.

He haven't changed at all. The only thing he has going for him is fight changing power.

Yep, don't get why people keep bestowing ability on fighters they have not proven. Dubois' best win is what Bryan, Gorman, that's not the record of a contender or even a gate keeper. Reality is Dubois has shown nothing to suggest he's even gate keeper level or as good as the Chisora that fought Usyk.
