Except he didn't beat Jon. Yeah, he beat some great contenders. Couldn't beat the real champ though.

The irony of this post is amazing. DC never beat Jon. He won a vacant belt. He was a paper champ himself!

    This.

People forget how stacked WW was in the 00's when GSP was in his prime. Loaded doesn't begin to describe it...

GSP saw off the old guard (Hughes, Sherk, Penn etc), the current crop (Alves, Diaz, Fitch etc) and the next generation (Condit, Hendricks etc).

Silva in his prime would have picked up a bunch of L's against the modern MW's.

This is nonsense, he won the belt legitimately. He beat Rockhold who beat Weidman who beat Silva. That is clear lineage. However the lineage is tainted, not by Bisping but by Silva being exposed as enhanced. If anyone's a fraud it's Silva! Bisping deserves props. It's not like he's a young sprite either is it!

Cormier LOL Couture's far greater let alone GSP.

No serious MMA fan would rank Cormier over GSP. That is embarrassing. Hendo & Silva are his (Cormiers) best wins. Bisping>GSP. Looollllllll

What's Cormier done?? He won the vacated LHW belt, defended it twice! ATG **** that.

He also won the strike force GP. Beating a few has beens. ATG ****! You're comparing this gut to GSP? Who dominated a division for years, beat the legitimate champion at both WW & MW! Give up...

    GSP, Couture, Lidell, Hughes etc>Cormier.

Call me when Cormier retires, comes back, jumps up & wins another UFC strap

Daniel Cormier 'is the greatest of all time' now lmao....

GSP is the greatest. His record speaks for itself. He has integrity as an athlete too unlike Jones & Silva.

You named a bunch of guys that the current welterweight champ would beat also. Kinda of amusing how some guys are exaggerated into more than they were to pump GSP up a bit. GSP is good, he doesn't need that type of exaggeration. You can't ridicule Some of Silva's opposition, and then act like Diaz, Alves, Sherk, a welterweight Penn, etc. were world beaters. Sure Silva's resume leaves a lot to be desired, and we don't know how a prime Silva would do against the current crop of middleweights. I'd imagine Romero, or Whitaker, would catch him while he goofed off sooner than slow arse Weidman did, but fact is. Silva would have whooped GSPs arse. Prime Silva would have been too lengthy, quick, and hit too hard for GSP. It would be similar to how Jones handles quality 205 pounders, except Silva in his prime had one punch KO power. Silva got what Karma brought to him though. You don't waste that type of talent goofing off in the ring, and disrespecting your opponents, it eventually catches up with you. It has to suck losing to a guy as big, slow and mediocre as Weidman.

I'm stating facts. GSP beat the prior, current & new crop of fighters for his time.

People pump up Andy, is what you mean.

He got submitted by absolute nobodies in Pride (in his prime)
Laid out by a feather-fisted Weidman
Didn't want to fight a legit guy when he went to 205

Andy may well have whooped GSP. But GSP in his athletic prime would have caused Andy fits. Chael did, after all...

Anderson would have destroyed GSP. But there's no shame in that. There was too much size disparity. Anderson vs Jones was the Real Superfight, but Anderson wanted none of that

GSP's resume takes a huge dump over Anderson's. WW was stacked at the time. GSP dominated. 205 was stacked at the time. Anderson - a natural 220lb guy - drained all the way down to 160 to stay the hell away

Insulting Weidman like that is pathetic. Guy's a stud

Ok you make sum good points in other posts but your wrong on couple thing here that you are stating as facts. He wasn't at his peak when he fought in Pride and the only the nobody he ever lost to in pride was Takase, Ryo Chonan wasn't a nobody just because you don't know who he is. As for the not fighting a legitimate fighter at 205, well as Ive said in earlier posts Griffin had just lost the title in his previous fight and James Irvin was ranked when Silva stopped him in 1 minute. While I think with his latest win GSP has probably gone ahead of Silva in best of all time rankings he never even considered fighting anybody at Middleweight, legit or otherwise when he was Welterweight champ.

Big Rig was robbed in that GSP fight.

George isn't half the wrestler Chael is. So how would he have given Anderson fits? Silva was too lengthy. And too good a striker back then. Calling Pride Silva's prime shows more than a bit of revisionist history. Smh

In MMA, GSP is the MUCH better wrestler (and grappler) of the two.

Silva KO'ed Newton, who was top of the tree back then. People love to say "Oh, his prime began in Cage Rage & ended before Sonnen I" such nonsense.

No, I know full well who the Japs were who Silva lost to. They weren't thought of highly at all.

Griffin was a big win. Irvin wasn't. James wasn't a good fighter, and his record reflects that.

Silva could easily have competed at 205. Fighting two tailor made slow lumbering mediocre fighters does nothing for his legacy

They fights were made for highlight reels as they were really trying to shove the "Anderson Silva is the Greatest Fighter of All Time!!!!" angle down everyone's throat and make them believe he was better than the man they could never sign

Silva was insanely good at that time though. Real shame he didn't test his freakish talents at 205
