"Which fighters did Frazier ko, as in put down for a 10 count?" mcvey

mcvey, since you keep harping on this, let me ask this question.

If Dundee doesn't stop the Ellis fight, Mercante doesn't stop the Mathis fight, and Ramos decided he didn't want no more, do you think those fights would have ultimately led to a "10 count ko"?

Let me answer for you.....damn straight they would have ended in an "official 10 count" ko.

It wasn't Frazier's fault that the fights didn't go a bit longer so he could achieve your vaunted "10 count ko".

Sure, Frazier didn't possess concussive, one shot, one knockdown KO power against bonafide heavies, but very few heavies in history have truly had that.

I think you make too much of this "10 count" business. The lines between a tko and ko are blurred too much for that.

    1. Tua hit harder but it's like asking wether you'd prefer to be shot by a rocket launcher or a shot gun.

    2. Tua more than likely had the better chin but Frazier had more heart.

    3. Frazier was faster of hand and foot and was a much better fighter end of.

No, Kev, I am definitely taking styles into account. Ali had trouble with stocky swarmers with powerful left hooks, so I give Tua a shot against Ali due to that.

I give Tua a chance versus Frazier, too. It's just the double standard with Ali that bugs me. Virtually every other great is dismissed against Tua, Lewis and the Klitsckos but Ali is routinely picked to beat them.

    That can't be right, surely?

Quarry loses to Tua because Quarry lost to Chuvalo,
    And Tua destroyed.....Fres Oquendo?
Frazier destroyed Chuvalo but would lose to Tua
    Because Frazier lost to Foreman
    Foreman would beat Tua becaue
    Foreman destroyed Chuvalo and Frazier
    But Frazier beat Ali
And Ali beat Foreman and Frazier
Tua loses to Ali Because Ali lost and won against Frazier
And Frazier would lose to Tua
    Because Tua destroyed...John Ruiz?

Well, can't speak for other posters or other Ali matchups but I think that prime Ali clearly has all of the tools to give Tua trouble: reach, height, footspeed, constant movement, constant jabbing, etc. Tua has a puncher's chance if Ali gets lackadaisical or too ****y though. Btw, I'm pretty sure I've gone on record that I think Ali would have a much, much tougher time against the top super heavies than most people here allow.

So if I grind you down until the referee, or your corner stop the fight, that is the same as me knocking you spark out for the ten count?
As to bona fide one shot ko power Tua had it, Frazier did not,its that simple.

There is no likely about it ,Tua had a better chin,.
Heart ? That will only take you so far as Chuvalo proved time and again and Frazier proved in his 2 fights with Foreman.
I would give the edge in hand and foot speed to Frazier ,but the gap between them is not huge.

Who are all these other greats that are dismissed against Tua?
I think that what bugs you is you didn't get the response
with your thread that you anticipated.

    .
Dempsey and Louis for a start. I got the response I wanted from a couple of posters, who could see the merits of Frazier and the double standard regarding Ali.

I actually agree with the poster who thought both Ali and Frazier might be so good that they overcome the weight and power advantage of Tua.

I think Frazier is being sold short here. He gets grief for the Foreman fight, but how do you know that Tua wouldn't have got bounced by George, too?

I think Frazier has enough power, stamina, and determination to beat Tua. Frazier was brutally effective, and I think his body punches would be another plus point for him.

I think he weathers an early storm to beat Tua by decision. Tua is very dangerous early, though. Thing is, he poses the same threat to Ali, too.

Personally I pick Dempsey and Louis to beat Tua,and Foreman too. I don't see that Tua poses the same threat to Ali, because Ali would be moving away from Tua whereas Frazier would be coming into him, not a good idea against a bigger, stronger harder hitting banger .

We keep comparing Tua to Frazier, but perhaps we should be comparing him to Chuvalo.

Perhaps he was more at that sort of level.
