And how would Tunney's career have gone if instead of being the Fighting Marine, he was the court-martialed felon with two years in prison?

    So many questions.

But it doesn't show Heeney as fat does it? Sharkey could lose to Moore, or he might be in a positive frame of mind and do to him what he did to Wills and Godfrey. Heeney got the shot because he drew with Sharkey.Sharkey would have given Tunney a lot more trouble.

I will Retract my claims he was fat but not that he was a slow plodder without a punch who was tailor made for Tunney.

Of course, he could. How would two 38-year-olds catch Gene Tunney?

And dumpy Rex Layne (your hero) beat Walcott and Charles.

You don't think a prime Gene Tunney could whip them? Are YOU SO STONED you can't grasp that?

Charles was losing to guys like Johnny Holman around that time. And you're taking him (or Moore, crouching, bobbing and weaving, cross-armed Moore) to beat a prime Tunney defending the heavyweight title?

    Good Lord.

    ALL HAIL REX LAYNE.

Gotta go. This is too stupid to get sucked into anymore.

I think DubbleChin might be Mr Dago Wop

His writing is so similar as is his activity.

I haven’t mentioned Rex Layne at all. Gets your facts straight

    “Two 38 year olds”

Well one of them caught 29 year old Ezzard Charles out cold with 1 punch and Charles was better than Tunney

    See for yourself

If a 19 year old smallish Loughran can fight Tunney on even terms, why can’t a 195lb master boxer with power like Walcott?

If a half blind 162lb Greb can beat him multiple times, why can’t Charles and Moore beat him once in a two fight series?

    “Prime Gene Tunney”

Prime Tunney was great, but He couldn’t go undefeated against a 162lb half blind Greb nor could he defeat a 19 year old Loughran.

How does he run the table against an ATG trio like Moore Walcott Charles?

I've been Dubblechin on every board I've posted on since the 90s.

Your argument is terrible, so let's label me a racist.

    Screw you.

Heeney got the shot because he drew with sharkey and beat Risko who sharkey lost too. Sharkey could only go 0-1-1 in title eliminators against Heeney and Risko.

Moore won his title eliminator over Valdes to get a world title shot. Who was better Valdes or Risko and Heeney? I lean toward Valdes.

So, you're taking Walcott by one-punch KO over Tunney?

    Perfect.

You don’t need to “catch” Tunney by knockout to beat him. 162lb Greb outpointed and drew with him. 19 year old Loughran drew with him. 22-18 Tommy Gavigan drew with him. Charley Weinart pushed him 12 very close rounds in fight 1.

Tunney could be outpointed by Moore Walcott or Charles in a multiple fight series
