yes. potential to be the greatest heavy ever. though he didn't reach it, his accomplishments are still amazing. let's be honest, if not for his out of the ring antics, no one would question it. if he had just retired quietly, not gone to jail, he'd be remembered as a possible top 10 all time heavy and shoe in for the HOF

The 1980s were a much better decade for Mike than the 1990s.

Hell yes, Tyson made the average person watch boxing again. He was easily the most exciting fighter of his generation, when Tyson fights its not just a match, its an event.

Tyson was the savior for boxing after Leonard and Ali. I think if it wasnt for Tyson I wouldnt be as much as a die hard fan as I am. Even my mother who doesnt watch boxing watched Tyson fight nights. Electric, explosive and exciting and is a no brainer for the HOF.

The second most famous boxer at the moment behind Ali in the world in terms of name recognition, why is he not already in the HOF?. I think you need to be a certain amount of years retired to get in and Tyson only retired in 2003 I think.

W/O a shadow of a doubt. Tyson's probably a hair second only to Ali in name recognition of boxers. If you were to go out in the street right now and ask who was Mike Tyson, you'd probably be stared at like you're an idiot, and the person you asked would simply say, "one of the most exciting boxers of the 80's who hit like a freakin train, but also the most notorious and bad boy boxer to date".

100% he should be in, I would say tyson and ali are about the same as name recognition.
