Look at a number of other HOFers who are in. Tyson's career accomplishments **** on some of those guys.

Tyson's a lock to be a first ballot HOFer.

 

We're not talking about Tyson being one of the greatest HWs ever or beating great HWs. There's not exactly a lot of greats roaming around. We're talking about Tyson being a HOFer.

Lots of HW eras are weak. The 80s was just one of many eras not very high in talent.

 

He's famous as all hell.

Even people who don't know anything about boxing or ever seen a fight know who he is.

 

Tyson might've been the greatest heavy of his decade. He was the youngest heavyweight champ ever and regained the title. Yes he deserves to be in the hall of fame for his accomplishments.

 

There should be no questio that Tyson is an HOF.

But whether he is top 10 ATG HW, I can see why some are hesitant to put him in.

Tyson was already really famous in the late 80s. In the U.S., he was the biggest athlete celebrity in the late 80s along with both MJs and Bo Jackson.

He became more infamous later, but he was really, really popular and famous at one point.

There were a couple of years that Tyson was bigger.. I grew up in NYC and the media exposure you get from NY is unparalleled. From 85 to 88 Tyson was the man in sports. Not til Jordan started winning that he became who he is

 

No, Tyson was very famous in the late 80s. He wasn't just gracing the cover of sports magazines, but on the cover of Time and People. Kids knew and liked Tyson too because of the popular video game.

Jordan was huge too, but still growing in popularity.

Boxing was more mainstream in the late 80s and Tyson was the face of boxing.

 

But we're not talking about Tyson being up there with guys like Ali, Robinson, Louis, etc..

We're talking about him being a Hall of Famer.

I'm talking about Mike Tyson being a Hall of Famer, not being a Henry Armstrong or Muhammad Ali.

 

I don't really care about mythical matchups and "what ifs?" that much, because you can argue on and on and nothing gets proven.

I'm asking you to explain why Mike Tyson is not a HOFer given the fact that his achievements are superior to a good number of guys who are in Canastota.
