Boxing has been Heavyweight-centric for a long time, mainly because the Heavyweights disproportionality contributed to the popularity of boxing.

Not even close. Fury is very good but his resume, even with Joshua on it would still be poor. He’d have like 2, maybe 3 good wins.

Personally, I think he’s getting well overrated at the moment and wouldn’t be surprised if he gets sparked by Joshua to be 100% honest. And I’m a big fan of fury (not a fanboy).

He'll be the best and most colourful HW active today, nothing more and nothing less.

    Hell no!

He could certainly claim to be #1 at HW for the moment, but that can change in an instant in that division.

And with his long stretches of inactivity and generally weak choice of opponents, he has hardly done anything to separate himself from other, more ambitious champions in boxing.

Fury likes the TV interviews, doing the podcast, soaking in the limelight...the hunger just isn't there anymore. Plus he can be mentally fragile, he's said it himself he was on the brink of suicide. Thats not acting like a brave warrior. He was having problems even in the good times....who knows what cliff he might go jump off if things don't turn out as planned against AJ

A 6'6 Duran sounds a lot more impressive than a 5'5 Holmes but it's a load of nonsense. As you get bigger your speed and dexterity falls, it's an absurd hypothetical to "scale them up" to heavyweight or "scale them down" to flyweight as they would fight completely differently. The only way P4P makes sense is if we are talking about a fighter's relative dominance over the division and the relative strength of the divisions. The P4P concept supposes equality in a world where it's absent. "If my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle".

    "AJ was never that good"
"The Ruiz fight took a lot out of him"
    "It's a weak division"
"(X cruiserweight from the 60's/70's) would have beaten Fury"

    lmao

You forgot about the IBO belt and more importantly AJ is going to knockout Tyson Fury.

I don't think it's possible for him to ever be P4P number one based on opposition available.

Just on that, looking at his two biggest wins and how they compare to Bud's two biggest wins makes you realise how bullsh!t the list is.

    You answered yourself

Heavyweights are not meant to be judged on a P4P basis, 99% of boxing fans first seed of boxing was because of the Heavyweight division not (p4p) skills. The Heavyweights are the big attraction, the fans that get dragged deeper into boxing will go to the lower weights to look for higher speed-precision.

The Heavyweight division lack of P4P skills, makes it the highest division for KOs because those big Giants can't move out of the way of massive punches. We don't have an evolutionary need for anybody to punch harder-faster than Deontay Wilder, because he already floored every Heavyweight he faced, anything more will cause unnecessary life-loss. A Scaled-up Ricardo Lopez Heavyweight throwing fast-precise combinations will end all fights instantly...A dramatic-volatile Heavyweight division is much more interesting
