Does Tyson Fury need more world title defenses to enter the IBHOF some day?

He won it AGAINST Wilder. Not from Wilder.

Fury won the lineal title from Wlad. Fury retired.

Fury and Wilder were rated the top two heavyweights in boxing at the time they fought in 2020. The only blemish on either's record was a draw against each other in their first meeting.

When there is no lineal champ, when the top two in a division meet, the winner is declared the new lineal champ. That's how it restarted with Schmeling-Sharkey. Patterson-Moore. Frazier-Ellis. Etc.

Fury was just in the unique position to win it twice without losing it in the ring. Ali could've done that if he had won the first Frazier fight. Louis could've done it if he'd beaten Charles.

Wilder has massive blemishes on his career where fury beat the dog**** out of him and brain damaged him

Bowe is in there as of 2020. So, Fury is already guaranteed entry.

Fury never beat anybody the level of prime Holyfield, much less knocked them out.

    Old man Wlad doesn't count.

He needs to beat Joshua, Ruiz, or Usyk to be a viable candidate imo. His only big victories are over Wilder, and that's not enough.

He really needs to be an active champion.

The trouble you have there is Wilder is also going to get in off his WBC run. It is highly unlikely that they will keep out an American Champion recognized by many as the biggest puncher ever, with his KO record, and number of title defences (quality of opposition considered)

So then it's going to look ridiculous not to include Tyson Fury after he not only beat Wilder two (some say three) times, plus his win over Klitschko. All fights on the road.

    What say you?

He just needs those people there to vote him in, that’s all.

This is a seriously good point. I didn't think of that, thanks for pointing it out.

In short, yes. He STILL has a wafer thin resume, and needs if NOT better names, then more defenses.
