Yes, Tyson's better than Frazier and he was much more than 'just a puncher' or KO artist

But he was n't as durable as Frazier was, when the heat was on. Ali takes it over 12 or 15.

Tyson was pretty durable back in the day. Post 95 he wasnt really in any kind of condition to fight 12 against anyone let alone Ali.

If anything you could argue he was more durable

True, the poor post-prison conditioning (mainly weight-lifting) lead to sheer exhaustion, with only his crazy concrete chin allowing his to walk head-first through kitchen-sinks before becoming too severely gassed to continue.

Anything's possible, but it's not a sturdy bet.

Frazier gave Ali so much trouble, partly, because he revelled in the inside tussle. Ali was effective and clever at getting his man tied-up, but then Frazier was so very good at belting away and making things uncomfortable. He could come across as laxidasical at times, but he was always making his man work, chewing them up from the inside out.

In all fairness, it would have to be said of Tyson that inside fighting was not his forte, rather a sour point for the dynamic bomber. When tied up, he slowed down to a crawl until free to resume his 'pounce-n'-bombard' rhythm.

That rhythm is one that has always struck Ted Spoon as suiting Ali. The speed and power would raise an eyebrow but likely get tangled in the taller mans mind games, blinding jab, and clever hustle.

If Tyson was to win, he'd have to connect with good clusters and early on. He's not going to deconstruct Ali over time, and certainly not over the duration.

if norton could do it tyson could do it easily.back in the day mike tyson was a nightmare for any opponent i mean if you watch his old fights when he was an up and comer you could actually see how scared his opponents were of him with their feeble attempts to run from him, even past champs like holme didnt even really try to beat him because they were scared. they were in it only for the money. ali is a different type of fighter thasn a young tyson but i believe that a young and hungry mike tyson would eat any man alive back then before he was raped by everybody for their own reasons.

    The question was 'outpoint'.

The answer, is a resounding HELL NO.

Hard to say because nobody can make a fare, legit assessment of what were the prime years of Ali's career. The best version of Ali which could have been in 68 or 69 I think would outpoint the Tyson of 87/88. Tyson didn't move his head as much as Frazier, stood up alot more and he certainly didn't have the heart or toughness of Frazier. Tyson could be in Ali's chest all night long, but I think the frustration factor would set in against Mike and he'd get outpointed trying to chase Ali and knock him out with one punch.

Mike was never a great infighter and got controlled in the clinches the majority of the time. I don't see him outpointing Ali, not forgetting the workrate dropoff and the mental effects that an ascendant Ali would have on Mike as the fight went on.

His chin was tried and tested against fighters who possessed serious power in a single punch.Tyson was knocked down under half a dozen in his entire career - which is less than the amount of times Frazier was knocked down in just two rounds against the only puncher he ever fought.

Tyson was far more durable than Frazier was.
